Thanks for the info, Gary. It sounds like it's worth the wait for TSC to open here, especially if JM III is right!

John,

Thanks for the clarification. I didn't recall reading in your earlier post about the pricing not being current or the Grand Opening/Reopening Sale not being a coming event with only the dates unset.

Danny in Southern IN indicates in an earlier post on this thread that, at least at his TSC, there is a grand opening set for May 10-12. I guess waiting another couple weeks to maybe save $50-$100 on the box blade and brush hog is worth it. ;o)

It's not like I don't have plenty to do without those two pieces. Truth be told, all having them will do is lengthen my "to do" list substantially. Besides, it's really too wet to mow now anyhow (How's that for rationalizing?). ;o)

I am 45 minutes away from (2) TSC stores. Their customer service seems a bit lacking at the store level, and is non-existant at the corporate level. ( I had a bad experience at a store, and wrote a letter to corporate... not a bad letter.. just a disappointed customer letter... has been 6 mo. and not had a response... ).
I find that generally they don't know what they carry, and whether or not they have it in stock. I once drove the 45 minutes to pick up a hay ring that I called to verify that they had.. only to get there, and they didn't have it... decided to call the other store only to find out that it was discontinued, etc.
Again, on another occasion, I called to find out about 250# molassis/mineral tubs for cows and horses.. was told they had them.. drove out.. nope.. they didn't have them...

They do come in handy now and then with parts... but the people are bottom of the barrel.

I went to the TSC grand opening in Seymour, IN on Saturday, the 11th. It’s on until Tuesday, the 14th. They are giving 10% off everything if you get their credit card (at 22.16% interest I’ll be paying it off immediately!). Like I said earlier, their implement prices are kind of high. They didn’t have any special sales on implements, besides the 10% off deal. I was considering a 4’ lawn roller, but they were all out- they said they only had 1 because corporate considered it seasonal item and they’re out of season! I got a rain check, which for me means that since it’s raining all the time I’ll have plenty of time for garage projects and can build one by the time it stops raining around here (got another 2.4" yesterday and last night)! I did get a real good deal on a drill press (regular $170 on sale for $138, plus the 10% off) and a few smaller items that I’ve been needing. They will be nice to have around for that stuff, but I don’t think I’ll be buying any implements from them.

Danny:

While at Rural King Sat. I looked to see if they had any rollers in the 5-6' range...Nothing but a few 48" ones (18" dia). And I agree, 2.6 inches here overnight night, Schools out as roads are either flooded or washed out this morning......is it ever gonna dry out (clearing off later today, more rain forecast here for thurs, fri & sat.). Guess sometimes it don't pay to live where are the rivers in state converge!

I finally had to get more chicken feed, and it costs $2 more per bag at TSC than QF&F used to cost. Plus, the stuff at TSC has lower nutritional values.

In my neck of the woods, we had a QF&F and TSC for several years until QF&F went out. I always went to QF&F because the store was 4 times larger, and had a better selection.

What gives? Just voicing my displeasure. I'll have to start shopping at the local feedstores.

Paul,

We might be in the same town. I'm at the confluence of the St. Joseph's, St. Mary's and Maumee Rivers and it's plenty damp here right now.

butzkeg,

Check your phone book to see if there are any mills in your area. We buy our horse feed directly from the mill and save about $3 a bag (from the feed store price).

Yes there are. Thanks for tip.

There are 2 mills within 10 miles of my house, not any further than TSC.

I found out the mills are where my father-in-law gets all his feed for his horses. He's not one to watch his money, but I am.

Our tsc just opened at the end of April in Batavia, NY. They took over the bankrupt Central Tractor. They seem decent, but they have poor hours (close @ 5:00 week days). They need to stay open till at least 7:00.
