Actually the perp should be thankful that the cop had a Taser. We didn't see exactly what all happened when he was grappling with the cop, and it said in the article he body slammed the cop to the ground. The cop could have added some extra holes in the perp. And while the face plant and face slide were bound to be painful, I bet he recovers a lot quicker than some extra holes.

Besides, it was really fun to watch.!
