Actually Dave, I am between you and Denver and I just put up a new field fence last year so your wind situation should have improved drastically. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I even closed the gate.

Also, the wind doesn't start in Denver, it starts in the mountains and then blows right over the top of the valley Denver sits in. By the time it hits my house it is doing 55 to 65 and still speeding up. Now at least I know where it is headed. You can keep it cause I don't like it /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Like I said, MAKE SURE TO ANCHOR IT! I've had the first one of these up for over a year now, had some very heavy winds (50-60mph gusts) and had no problems. Costco sells these for about $170-$180. It seems to vary a little by location. I bought one in Atlanta and one in Nashville. The frame is about 2" powder-coated steel, the cover is very heavy poly that appears to be fiberglass reinforced, and I assume is UV stabilized. All of the cover pieces (top, sides, ends) bungee onto the frame VERY tightly. You can count on pinching a finger or two during assembly /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif. They are nominally 10' x 20' and about 12' at the ridge. One of the end panels has a zip-open and roll-up door. It does require that I fold down the ROPS to clear the door.

I kept mine under a tarp for about a year. One of those cheapy blue tarps from your local HD. I liftted the FEL, put the tarp under that, over the hood. over the ROPS, and connected it to the lift arm on the 3-point hitch. Made for a nice dry, water repellant tent.

Then when I finished the equipment shed, I used the tarp on the firewood pile.

Total cost was abot 35 bucks, it did the job.

( I just bought one of those tarp-garages from Costco for $164. The size is 10' x 20' and it has all four sides (Roll up door).
Now all I need is my tractor to put in it! (Delivery is next week /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

Have 2 Costco garages and they work great.

To tie them down, here's what we did;

Pound a 3-4' metal fence post into the ground next to each pole (or just the 4 corners if it's not too windy where you are). Leave about 18" above ground.

Cut a 2x4 into about 8" long pieces - you need 8.

Position the 2x4 vertically between the fence post and pole, and secure it with 2 10"-12" stainless-steel strap clamps.

Has survived too hurricane remnants here - 70+ MPH winds.

I put the fence posts along the wall so they don't stick into the carport. I'll try to get a picture today.

( Cliff . . . you need to get your priorities straight. If your garage is not big enough for the tractor, then you need to make room, somehow, to get the tractor into the garage. That will mean something like moving the wife's car out into the rain, sun, sleat & snow. But hey, nothing is too good for the tractor!!!

Bob, I tried that but got overruled. My tractor has been in the garage in my spot for the past 5+ years, while my $30K truck sits outside. I did buy a portable garage from Harbor Freight, 10x20 fro $150 on sale this summer, just haven't had the time to get is set up. JT

Lowes sells a "ground anchor" kit for sheds for about $20. They are always there, but hard to find, and the empoyees have NEVER heard of them! Look around wherever they have the outdoor sheds. They consist of 4 ground auger screws about 3' long, a generous length of steel cable and the necessary cable clamps. Check the box, some parts are USUALLY missing! You are supposed to be able to screw the augers in. I dig post holes at each corner, put em in and back fill/tamp, leaving about 4"-6" above ground, then run the cable inside the top cover and over the main frame. I add one turnbuckle on each side to make sure the cables stay snug. It's very secure!

During the summer, I don't cover the 8N at all if I know it's not going to rain. If rain is in the forecast, I keep it covered loosely. Now that it will being staying in the same spot until spring, I've wrapped the blue tarp a lot tighter to keep out the snow. Hopefully I can build that garage next year.
