Tractor
Kubota 2710
My first post. Thanks to all of you for the information and all the posts I read on TractorByNet. I knew nothing about tractors. All my surfing and seeing a couple models at dealers had me seeing orange. After evaluating all the info I found myself driving home with a new Kubota 2710 with 60" mower and 420 loader in tow. Great machine for my little 11 acres. I wanted one of these when I saw one at the dealer 2 years ago. Since I was building a new home, and was thinking "just grass" the dealer steered me to a Scag zero- turn 72" mower. But I still wanted one of them orange tractors. Now I can get to all those landscape jobs around the farm, move some dead wood, push a little snow, and cut grass in high style. I still find myself grinning and singing the "green acres" song every time I climb on board. Thanks for all the fine advise.

I don't know if you ever watched an old televison show called the Twilight Zone.

What you are about to see, and experience, is real.

Once you operate this tractor at home you will never be able to live without one again. You made two good choices, one is the tractor and the other is this board.

May the honeymoon never end. Congrats.

Hey, this isn't a hobby. It's hard, hard work. We do this because we HAVE to do it. We have to keep a united front on this one.

I also wondered if there was meant to be a comma between "Tractor" and "Virgin".

I thought, now there is a real man, taking his Tractor and Virgin on Honeymoon /w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif

Cheers

Thanks for all the grins. All of you guys (and gals) are appriciated. I read alot of your opinions and info. over the last few weeks. It really helped me to take the plunge. When I visited some dealers to shop, It was the first time I had ever been on a tractor, let alone use one. (Thus the Virgin heading) By the way, my lovely wife of 21 years really likes the tractor also, as do my 2 sons, 14 & 16 years old. I plan to have them doing some of the "tractor work" also, if they can get me off the thing. Thanks again.

Luckyme, congratulations. That's a nice little tractor and I'm sure the whole family will enjoy it. Of course, if the whole family is new to tractors, I'd sure recommend they ALL read the Operator's Manual right away, paying particular attention to the safety information. Most people just don't realize how easy it is to turn a compact tractor over, especially with a front end loader on it. A lot of us (myself included, of course) first learned through some terrifying experiences. Not the best way, but you sure don't forget soon./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

if u are that new to using a tractor, always remember to go slow at first. and tell your boys to be extremely careful(i remember what i was like at 16) /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif well i guess if u have a bride of 21 years and two boys i guess u ain't that much of a virgin/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

GARRY; after working all day i had to come home and get rid of the 10 in of snow that fell last night. so i was up on the kubota in 17 deg. temp and 20 mph wind singing" i'm freezing my butt off again" but it was fun, any time on the tractor is fun. well almost any!

Thanks for your suggestions. All good things, as safety is key. I read most of the manual, paying particular attention to safety issues. Most of my property is gently rolling with only a small area with grass being on a steep grade, which I will continue to cut with the zero turn mower. My wife and boys don't even cut that area. I gave them the basics on safety, and all they have done is drive it around some. Before they do any other activity, I will make sure they read and understand the safety issues with a tractor.
Today in KY it will finally be warm (65 degrees). I will need to take off some work to go home and play....UH, I mean work with the Kubota. Only have about 1 hour on it, as it got real cold this past weekend. I must be a fair weather tractor guy.

Hey Jim. Profile done. Sorry, I need to learn to get around better on this site. I'm not much of an expert at all these little computer details, but I'll get better. Just figured out how all you guys are putting on those little faces /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif.
I'll try to work on some other little details such as those pictures and such. Looking forward to using this forum, as y'all (Kentucky slang) are so nice and well informed.
