Silly beginners question -

I get the impression that tractors (that type used for agriculture) and tractor/loader/backhoes (that type used for construction - like a 480K) share very little, and really aren't interchangeable (I've never seen a belly mower, or a 3pt hitch on a 480).

Is this true?

(this question came to mind because I might be able to get a loader/backhoe for next to nothing with a bad engine)

Most TLB's are not equipped with a three point hitch. That's the biggest drawback I think you're likely to find.

Also most of the industrial jobs have no rear PTO. or drawbar capability.

Thought so - just wanted to be sure.

Thanks!

I have a late 70's IH2500b that is a 4 cylinder gas, 50PTO HP industrial loader. It has the 3pt hitch option instead of a backhoe. Best of both worlds /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

MossRoad,
Yep the 25xx series is a bit rare with the 3 point hitch option, but some are out there. I have a IH 2444. Basically a 444 tractor with an industrial loader and front mounted pump, heavier front axle and foot throttle, PS. It also has all of the tractor stuff on the back, PTO, 3 point, draft and position control. I have the rears loaded and about 1500 lbs of steel on the rear. Can lift a F250 pickup with it /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Only 40 Hp PTO but sufficient for my needs. The main difference with these tractors/loaders is the factory equipped frame for the loader, supported at front and rear axles, no breaking them in half with too heavy of a load in the bucket.

You can look at the Orange one, the B21 an true TLB with 3 PH. Another option could be a tractor with an add-on BH but with a ridgid subframe mount (BH removable still) /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif in-lieu of a 3 point hitch attached BH.

One of the nice features of the JD 110 TLB is that the backhoe is removeable. 3 PH arms can then be attached and there is a rear PTO.

Here ya go. Pictures of the 110. I'd tell you who that is peering at it, but then I'd have to... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Mike:

I have about 5 cans of NH Blue in the garage if you are interested. By the way, where is the New Holland hat, you are supposed to represent your brand when out looking.

You could take a "paint pen" and put under John Deere, "also have New Holland"!!!!
