tractor wax

My father recently purchased a brand new Kubota. The first thing he did was put a coat of turtle wax on it. Is this common practice? Do any of you out there wax your tractor too? I'm just curious.

Of course Clementine gets waxed! The very first weekend she had all her engine covers etc removed and waxed inside and out. Can't imagine any loving tractor person leaving his or her beast to rust! /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

Wax a tractor? Ain't necessary; just makes them last a little longer maybe and stay looking better, have better resale value, and a few little minor things like that./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Would you let your spouse run around without fixen her hair, etc? Much nicer lookin' at a spiffy spouse, as well as a spiffy tractor! My ol' kubota was pretty oxidized when I got it, but some washin' behind the 'ears' and wax'n made a whole new tractor outta ol' grumpy!

Heck I even wax my 60" mower. I think my dealer was surprised how clean I keep it, they picked it up for service when it was raining and then waited until the next day when it wasn't raining to bring a nice clean tractor back to me. I had a 17 year old garden tractor that looked almost like the day it was bought new.

Nice thing about the waxing, it cleans up so much easier afterwards! The crud doesn't stick as hard, and hoses off with water or air so much better.

My wife has a problem with that Let part on anything applied to her, but she does let me wax her tractor/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Makes the clean up much easier with water or air hose. IMO Turtle Wax is good stuff when measured in terms of durabilty and protection.

Al, the ONLY thing my wife will let me LET her do, is what she wants....spend da bucks! That's about right. My wife still always asks me before she does anything, and for the first year we were married I think she actually listened to me, but she got over that listening part about 35 years ago./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Absolutely!!! As someone else said, I wax it inside and out. I pull the covers and wax everywhere at least twice a year. I wax my implements too. I use protectorant on the tires that I order special from Miller Tire Company. My car might look crappy a lot of the time but my Kubota always shines . /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Hi ya's
well i have never got as far as waxing my tractor but a good wash down happens now and then with some truck wash stuff cleans up things realy good ..as for waxs i saw some where how to make a good wax for 4x4's going off road i think i have the book here i'll look ,had some kinda oil and paste wax mixed off the top of my head the guy who used it drove limo's

Wax a tractor.... I remember picking up a date and somewhere in the conversation I said that I needed to wax my tractor and the look I got was just to good funny...... I explained that the tractor was worth a lot more than the truck we where riding in, and would be around a lot longer.....

Whew, Thanx guys. Very timely post. Just got the new beast home last weekend and it's been driving me nuts wanting to get down there and give it a good detailing. Haven't even run it yet except to get it home. Tonight I got enough time to pull the panels off and had a tantrun knowing that the engine and panels were dirty underneath. My wife thinks I'm pretty **** about detailing the cars and trucks. She ain't seen nothing yet. But its real nice to know I have company. Was beggining to think I had a problem. Then again,,,, Maybe I do. But misery loves company <G>

I've waxed my tractor twice this summer and the Porsche targa once. Hell I paid more for the tractor than I did the Porsche so I should take better care of it!

Waxed my tractor several months ago. The wife, who was raised on a farm, was on the ground laughing. Said she had never seen a tractor waxed before. Then she pointed to her van. Guess next time I need to do the van first.
