Tractor Wimp...or Not?

   / Tractor Wimp...or Not? #11
Another note- Some hours are a bit harder than others. My tractor would have a simpler life just cutting, not clearing land. Start digging up trees, skidding logs running over stumps and it start's to show. Just hung the drawbar bracket on a stump and sheared all 4 bolts, broke a steel fuel line and a hyd hose this week.

</font>
Not. A definition of wimp is ineffectual which is defined as "not producing the proper or intended effect".

I don't know about you but as soon as Kubota sold me the tractor it has produce intended effect for which I bought it for.

But unlike Davenay who puts exactly as many hours on his tractor as he needs/wants/can, I find my real job robs me of spending quality time with my machine. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

While at the dealer the other day for service, one of the sales guys and I was talking about how many SCUT and CUT tractors are sold to folks who are tired of buying the cheaper, more prone to last a couple of years mowers, and are opting to buy once and for all. Many may be inheriting family land, buying land or making plans on retiring on a "bigger place". Either way, most all owners either have little or no experience on tractors beyond the yardman style. I fit into this group that wants to buy what will last till they dig my hole with my Kubota. I learn everyday I use it. What used to be a chore is now fun, what used to not get done is now done, and what projects would have had to be hired out are now done by me. I bought my 23 in July, it now has about 52 hours on it. My 2200 was one year old when I traded her in (got to see her again as the dealer still has her) with 141 hours. I wish I had time for more.

Bill,

A tractor wimp is one that sits in an air con cab with a surround sound system DVD player and claim they are working ( we call them rich cockeys here) /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif, ...............I think you and i are not tractor wimps /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Bah! On your hours. It is not the number but the quality of the work done, and the time you have saved doing it.
I have come in from working with the equipment looking like I did it manually. The point is, I could not have do it at all without the equipment.

I'd love to get into just mowing, where I could sip on something cold and drive with one hand on the stearing....
Ain't gonna happen for a few more years.

I got my BX23 5 weeks ago.
Have put 62 hours on it.

I think it is all in how you use it and how efficient you are. In two weeks I will have had my JD 4310 for 1 year and the hour meter reads 95 hours. I have used it a lot building a driveway, I have plowed, disced, and planted 4 to 5 acres of corn. This is my first "new" tractor but not my "first" tractor. I think a lot of people put an enormous amount of hours learning and playing when they get a tractor because it is something new to them.

The only reason I even look at the hours is to see when it needs a service. Other than that I don't care. I do what I need/want to with a piece of equipment appropriately sized.

There is no tractor wimp unless it is someone with a piece of equipment that is afraid to use it for it's intended purpose and will either hire someone else to do it or find and alternative.

Is that anyone here? I think not.
