Tractor Wont Start, Thinks PTO is engaged when its not

I own a Kubota L3710 with a hydrostatic transmission, Forgive me if I miss some oblivious fix, for I am new to owning land and a tractor. My tractor will not start and I am almost certain it has to do the lever to disengage the PTO. Not sure if there is some electrical issue or what. Any suggestions? It has done this before, but after finagling the lever back and forth engaging and then disengaging the PTO it will hit a sweet spot and crank up. This time, no such luck after numerous days. Any help is appreciated.

Sounds like a bad interlock switch that finally failed. Hopefully it can be accessed externally and you won't have to dig into the bowels of the rear axle.

Where would that be located I wonder?

Get an electrical schematic for the tractor and start tracing wires. If the switch is inside the gear case, the wires have to reach it somehow.

Double check all fuses also, sometimes a fuse will go and cause the PTO interlock not to wok properly.

If the L is like the BX the interlock switch is behind the wheel on the side the PTO shift lever is mounted. Had same problem with my BX and the anchoring screws came loose and it slipped out of position. My BX led up from jiggling the PTO lever till complete stop as it got looser. The BX mount devise left something to be desired. There have been several posts recently on this Kubota problem.
