here is what we got done last evening... note some of the boards are just supports to hold everything square while we are building it. the hard part is done now. have to add the rest of the intermidiate boards, then sheet it and figure out what kind of roofing material I should use. any thoughts??

I was going to encourage you to keep the sides open for awhile and test it. I did an 18x12 enclosed. But with my tractor I note that I have to move 627 items to get to the thing in the back. So I just added another 18x12 lean-to and kept it open so I can have access to all the attachments without moving everything.

Feel free to say you know this already.

If you or your dad was in the military, Lowes gives 10% off. Need a military id or DD-214. .
Unless the policy has changed the Military discount is done once or twice a year unless the veteran is disabled with VA ID then the 10% discount is every day.

I'd use metal roofing which is what I use on storage building. One you don't have to sheath with wood and the frame cane be on 48" (2x6's)centers with 24" (2x4) cross braces. Use one opaque sheet on the roof and the inside will be light when you close in sides which some times leads to closing in ends.:)
Metal will be a little higher but when you figure in speed of completion, lifting sheathing and shingles and less wood for sheathing. Call a metal roofing supplier and price it. Building Supply stores may also sell it as well as farm supply stores.
Use gloves. 2x6 ridge down to side 4' on center. 2x4s across 2x6s 2' on center is what I do on my buildings as in this picture.

I used Ondura on a small porch one time and it's fine also. Don't drop it on it's corners:) it'll break the corner off. My brother in law used it on a big deck several years ago and it has held up well, just shouldn't walk on it like metal but most people don't walk on their roofs.:)
I've waited on Barlow deliveries before but they're only 2 miles from this building and 7 miles from my house.:)

Just got back from the Lowes by me and got a 10% military discount! Sales slip is included, note date at bottom and discount type at top!

On the roof, I suggest going with a metal roof. Call around and you should be able to find a place that will cut them to the length you need. On the boards 12 inches from top and bottom, then space 24 inches in between. Do NOT screw them down that you bend the metal.
