The more I looked at the Rugby Pro, the bulkier I decided it would be with a case. Has anyone switched from Android to Apple without much pain? Im thinking the learning curve might be kinda high.

Casio Commando 4G version. I can honestly say this thing is durable. I have had it on the tractor multiple times, but the best testament to it's durability would be they fact that as a career firefighter I have never taken it out of my pocket at work when we go on calls, including house fires. Needless to say it gets wet, banged around, heated up, crushed, dropped, etc., etc. and just keeps on working like it just came out of the box. I wouldn't be without it.

rx its pretty pain free. bigger issues are syncing with a pc (if you have an iphone). honestly you will like the iphone interface more, be a bit bummed some of your aps are no longer around.

Check out the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active - It has gorilla glass so almost indestructible. I got a combination case & holster from Optic Planet for $17.

And the lumia 920 has gorilla glass 2, and the 1020 has gorilla glass 3..

But, I do think all the 'top shelf' phones are gorilla glass now.

Well I found the Moto X when the price dropped to below $100 and that's what I chose. I've been very happy with it since. It also got great durability reviews against other smart phones and even in another test with a hammer, knife, & keys. Of course I had to put on a case...not many available for the model. I chose the Trident model; my wife has had 3 of them and been very pleased.

I had a Motorola. Was pretty tuff but Motorola discontinued support for it a month after I got it on a three year contract. No more software upgrades. So no more Motorolas for me. Went with an Iphone 4s, speaker died slowly after about a year and a bit(off warrenty) , had in in an Otter box. I should mention I'm a HD mechanic in the Oil Sands and use my phone for work looking up parts and taking pics. I think metal filings got into the speaker from grinding and after a year the Otter box was toast. Then I leaned on it while working on an engine and cracked the screen. For $200CDN Apple store took my old phone and gave me a new 4S. I tried the Lifeproof case($80) but couldn't hear calls and callers couldn't hear me so I took it back. Got the Mophie case with internal battery($130), I could hear calls ok but people calling me complained about an echo. Popping out the mesh around the mic port solved that issue. Also the clear, plastic screen over the camera caused flash back when using the flash and blurry pics. I cut out the plastic around the camera eye and now its good. Some research I've done says these issues have been corrected.

Downside is it makes the phone freakin huge and heavy. I'm ok with it, after 18months I've still on the same phone where as before the dust/dirt/filings would have me with a dead speaker after 6months(3 phones in a row went like this). Also I've dropped the phone from about 8feet onto concrete and no damage. LOTS of 2-3foot drops when I bend over to grab something and it slips out my front pocket.

In short get a popular phone that has good aftermarket support and get the best case you can buy. My motorola had crappy choices for cases, none of them heavy duty.

Buy a lifecase, they are pricey but fully waterproof. Gonna ditch my otterbox and get one.
