I'm trying to figure out how you get the splits in the center or bottom of that pile to dry down???

IF the splits aren't dried down to below 20%, you are just wasting BTU's of energy and have to cut/split even more wood...

Nice building though!

Well, I sold all my wood but the loggers left several areas with long stumps so I've been cutting those more flush with the ground and collecting them for future firewood. My loblolly replant will be in the next month or two (7-9K trees) so just trying to clean up what I can while I can.

Once I skid my firewood logs out,

standard.jpg

I lift them over my wagon with my loader and they are chain sawn into firewood length,

With that done, it's easy to roll the blocks right onto my splitters beam, and push them through the 4-way wedge,

And the splits can go right into these boxes I build,

standard.jpg

They hold 1/2 cord each, and I designed them to allow air to move all around the splits, so the splits will dry down to 20% or less, as that's the way to get the most BTU's of energy (heat) out of firewood...

With the boxes full, I can easily move them for storage, or once the splits are dry, to my basement window with my tractor, to be thrown down for burning,

Rob your system is similar to mine, my splitter is smaller and I use regular skids with sides but using the wagon sure eliminates a butt load of bending over. BTW do you happen to be the star of an outdoor hunting show. You sure look like him.

Man... you guys are sure workin' hard. I am feeling guilty sitting in my house watching it pour down rain with no desire to go outside.

Didn't I see you making duck calls on TV last week.
That looks like an awesome tractor for working with wood, looks like it has big tires on front compared to most tractors I see. One of the many things I don't like with my L3400, it has big tires on the rear, 11.2-24, compared to the small tires on front 7-16, but I think I'm the only one who complains about small tires on front of a 4x4 tractor.
