I did!

I had to get a can of gas and put a splash in to finish!
Have had to do that to pull the ram back on more than one occasion. Usually doesn't dawn on me until I try to lift the tongue ans wheel it around by hand.

Johnmc , you never mentioned After you purchased your winch if you felt good about it. Yes , 3900$ American is a lot really. Though I thought they would give me a good deal on one. I saw Norse somewhere that was about 2900$ American, and I think that was in New Hampshire. I do think sometimes that if I could cut 30 cords of firewood and sell it I would make the money back. It would be a great attachment for me but it is expensive. I could drive to much wood with a j5 bombardier and wagon. But the tractor travels easier on wheels. And burns little fuel compared to the gas flathead six.

My very old Washington neighbor still heats 100% with wood...

He has a cable, chain and a pulley using his old 1 ton van... it is so simple and amazing to see what he has moved this way.

My indoor wood burning days are over... I think. Never had a tractor while cutting, splitting my share over the years. Now I have a small tractor and I don't burn inside. I have moved a bunch of small logs, rounds, etc. and loaded up family but I am not missing the mess inside. I do have outdoor pleasure fires occasionally to satisfy the urge. :D

Retired a year ago, moved back to where it gets cold in the winter and built a woodshed. My first season cutting firewood and hauling it to the homestead with my new MF 1529.

I'm looking forward to switching to heating with wood chips at some point. I have a 1 Million BTU wood chip burner that is used for manufacturing biochar but after operating it I plan to get a smaller 100k-300k BTU machine for my house. Chips are much easier than cutting, splitting, stacking, hauling, etc IMO and in many cases tree services will drop chips for free and chipping smaller material on your property with a PTO chipper is simple. The best part is you don't touch the material again, the tractor does the rest so your back can rest.

How do you heat?
Combination of propane insert in living room (vented), ventless propane wall heater (office), electrical forced air, and heat pump. Heat pump has been great. Never had air/con before and now we do!

Interesting move. Bet the moving van traffic wasn't heavy going your way ;)
Looks like you will be keeping, or should it be "staying" warm though!
