Interesting. I find about 1/3 of my photos upload fine, but 2/3 get rejected as too large. It’s related to the size of jpg conversion from native HEIC, and how the number and distribution of colors affects the file size. I’m running an iPhone 15 Pro which I think has a 48 MP camera. On my prior phone, I only occasionally had rejections, 90% uploaded fine.

What’s the camera resolution on your phone?

I never have problems uploading pics from my 20 year old Canon A560.

I can't think of a single photo I have seen on here that needed anywhere close to 50 megapixel resolution to be useful for this group's purpose. Yes, it would be nice if the server automatically resized them, but I have no complaints dealing with that on the site I use with a 250K limit. I'm just happy someone is willing to go through the hassle of running a site I'm interested in at all, and making it available for free. If I have to take an extra step now and then because it makes their lives easier or less expensive, I can live with that

Agreed, and I wasn't complaining, just stating some facts. Yes, it would be nice if the server just resized the images, but I've been getting by fine with resizing them on my PC. It has cut down the number of photos I post, since I more often than not forget to come back to it next time I'm at the PC, but fewer posts from me may be considered a blessing by some.

Now DarkBlack has given me an easier work-around, which is part of why I was posting about the file size issue, to see how others were dealing with it. So, you now have him to blame, if my post count goes up.

I often just prune a photo to get it to upload. I’m using an iPhone 15 and often the photos are too large to upload. I haven’t really figured out how to change the resolution after I take a picture.

.... which one (phone has many cameras)? lol

The primary is 48MP, just like the 15 pro. The other lenses are also similar to the 15 pro's other lenses.
File size will vary greatly depending on which lens is being used; that's probably the main reason why some of yours work and some don't.

I was wondering about that, so I'm glad you posted this. I guess I should look up the spec's at some point, but it never mattered so much, it seems to take really good photos at all zoom levels 0.5x up to about 6x. Even at 10x, it's not that terrible, I assume the 48 MP sensor must yield close to 15 MP images at that zoom level, given the lens itself is 3x.

Honestly it's amazing to see the results. As you said the lens has zoom too, but it's not merely cropping to get the rest of the zoom as they do magic taking multiple pictures to get the right data to smooth things out as the zoom goes up in order to maintain a higher pseudo resolution.

Phones have gotten so good that one of these days I'm going to have to upgrade from my DSLR to get some of the more modern in-camera processing with "real camera" glass... I wish the cameras would piggyback on the phone's processing capabilities so that the bodies wouldn't go obsolete quite so quickly.
