Tractors are getting more costly every year

Not just tractors. I stopped at a food truck today. A single burger without cheese or fries, $11. $4.5 for fries, and $4 for can soda.

Dont think so.

Walked over to taco truck. They wanted $15 for 3 tacos.

Dont think so

Went to Red Robin, ate in air cond restaurant and had full meal for way less money. And alot better food.

Was going to hit buffalo wild wings for their lunch specials for about $10 which include drinks, but was on opposite side of town.

What happened to cheep food trucks
Personally I would not rate Red Robin better than the food trucks around me. Since I don’t typically eat burgers and fries or drink soft drinks I can’t compare but there was a fried chicken truck around that was $15 per meal and I happily paid that. Also a couple “taco” trucks around that are about that same price for a meal and the food is fresh and really good. I’ll pay a little more for that fresh any time. Haven’t had that experience at a Red Robin since the early ‘80’s.

Theres a new local sit down restaurant here that has $10 lunch specials. Great, fat hamburger, small order of tasty fries and refillable drink included.

Way, way better than mickyd or other chains. Dont know how they do it, but the place is packed.
That is how they do it, quality and volume sales sparked by the quality. Good food and service will get word of mouth going and people will drive miles to get that!

Keeps the riff-raff out! :p

Our local system is heavily graduated by lot size, and depends a lot on zoning (e.g. rural 1 vs. rural 2, town, or commercial). There are also huge breaks for giving up your development rights, for various free-space initiatives.

I have had family members on 100 - 300 acres paying less than I presently pay for 4 acres, and I have at least one friend paying more than my 4 acres for his 0.75 acres. Location, location, location...
Exactly... same here. Because of AG exemptions.

Everything is going up except our pay. We bought trimmed fajitas this past weekend for the first time in a while. They are now $15 a pound. Ok so most of the fat is trimmed and no loss from trimming and they come with marinade and are seasoned. Other places are $11 to $12.99 untrimmed with no marinade or seasoning. Time to get another freezer and have a cow butchered. I am not paying these prices when I do not have to.

I learned about property taxes the hard way. I had 5.5 acres near the future path of a tollway. Every year my tax bill went up. I had to have 10 acres to gt an ag exemption. Now I have more than 10 acres, and my taxes are low. I learned why there were cows grazing in Irving, TX while they built out Las Colinas years ago. Gotta have the ag exemption until you decide to develop that particular piece.

In 1996 I bought a used 20hp Kubota with 225 hours for 6,000. In 2001 I bought a new L3010 Kubota with loader and remotes for 19,000. In 2012 I bought a new Kubota L3540 with loader and remotes for 24,500. In January 2025 I bought a new Kubota L4060 with loader, remotes and air ride seat for 44,500. Huge increase on the last one.
You should look at the cost for parts. Back in 2001 a throttle potentiometer on a Kioti NX4510 dash throttle was $576.00. Now it is just over a grand. Front wheel hub bearings go for $80 - 90 each. You can buy the same model bearings from several brand name companies for 50% less. I just recently replaced the muffler on my neighbor's John Deere 430 diesel lawnmower. The cost for that part is $466.00.

My hot water heater is from Hubermeyer Foundry, Seattle 1949. Still cooking, but if it blows? It probably level my house?
I wonder what the efficiency of that old thing is compared to newer units.

Than your Red Robin must suck……cause the one near me has amazin food. Fresh tasting. Fries are the best.

I managed to do that during COVID. I did it by carefully documenting comparable properties' assessments relative to their recent sales. REALTORS (educated REALTORS, that is.) can be helpful as they've access to software designed to create lists of comparable properties and adjust for differences in relevant features. Usually to persuade a SELLER to list at a price the market might bear.

However since they have access to the assessed values before the sale date, a list of comparable properties that have recently sold showing the actual SALES PRICE along with it's prior ASSESSED value can help one determine the correlation as between the Assessor's estimates of value as against the demonstrated FAIR MARKET VALUE.

In my case, I was able to demonstrate that the COUNTY had been assessing our properties at as much as 125% of their demonstrated FMV based upon recent sales data.

A few years later, they reassessed me up again - even as the improvements depreciated over time.

It's Chinatown, forget about it.
I know people that got pretty upset, drove into the assessor's office and demanded the county buy the house / property at the new value.

That generally at least got the numbers re evaluated and knocked down a bit.

Wow, made me want to see what it would cost if my EV had a failure, $200 direct from Tesla.

$1000 is outright robbery for a potentiometer, the part for the car comes with the pedal and mounting bracket included as well. Kioti is taking advantage of their own customers, Sometimes even John Deere is priced better on parts than the Korean Brands.

I dont know, i shattered the front windshield on by dk45 2 years ago, and kioti only charged me $550 for a new one. My local glass company wanted nearly $1,000 for plexiglass. Took a few weeks to get it though, but i thought that was a very reasonable price for curved safety glass, and its a huge piece of glass

It's their loss. I used to like buying new Kubota tractors. But now I don't. Just keeping the stuff I have, and buying more old restored antiques instead.
I realize everything is more expensive, but like in Kubota's case, their price increases are not even realistic here in Canada.
To replace my B2620 as it's set up with the new B2601 would be $47,000. That's ridiculous for a tractor that size.
A Grand L6060 with a loader and a backhoe is $90,000 here now.

The one that really angered me and made me cancel my last purchase was at the end of covid. I was about to buy an M7060 cab with loader. Then on Jan 1st the price just jumped over $10,000 overnight.
How?? This is an unchanged model (now the economy model replaced by the M4) unchanged and mass produced since 2012 or 13? Nothing updated or changed all these years. What justifies that much of a price increase???

There’s NO WAY wages are keeping up with prices.
Only way manufacturers are selling is through more gimmicks, like “0 percent financing” or 7-10 year loan terms, leasing, etc.
Tractors aside, Look at housing in most parts of the US. Young people are having trouble buying a shoebox home now.
A 3/4 ton crew cab truck is $85,000. Heavy duty Trailers are $15,000.
I’ll be OK as I can probably keep cobbling my stuff together, but I have no idea how a young man can start a business today without outside capital.
Sadly the way they are starting to screw us out of keeping the old stuff going is it's getting more and more difficult to source parts for a lot of older stuff. They just stop stocking or producing it, then force you to overpay for new junk.

No question that new tractors are getting more and more expensive, and I pity the first time buyer. These price increases are dragging up the resale value of used equipment though, so for those of us who already own, trading what you've got takes some of the bite out out of a new purchase.

I don’t do food trucks pretty much ever. I’m already working outside, I want an air conditioned lunch with a bathroom and like you said they’re a ripoff. Fast food in general is a ripoff. This was my lunch check at a sit down restaurant. I couldn’t eat McDonald’s or Taco Bell for less. I always pay extra for the grilled chicken because I hate the boiled chicken and I usually drink water because I think $2.85 is a ripoff too.
As for the $2.85, I keep an envelope of Crystal Light lemonade mix in my shirt pocket when I go into those places and order water. A six pack of Crystal Light lemonade mix in a small box is 3 bucks on sale at the Giant stores around York and Harrisburg...

Damn, you guys are cheap! You're screwing the poor wait staff and restaurant owner, saying they're a rip-off, while you probably wouldn't even be willing to work for what they're making.

Service isn't free, everyone needs to make their wage.

Can't have it both ways. Make the portion sizes the same as what they used to be, then we'd tip more. But they want to both charge more and give you less.

Especially of they are Pre 4....... As people buy them up and the field narrows, the price goes even higher.

I was just offered 37 grand for my 1997 Ford F350 4 wheel drive diesel pickup. OBS Fords are getting really rare today and mine is a forged rod 7.3 to boot. Ordered it that way in 1997. When it hits 40, I may sell it in as much as I paid 32 for it in 1997. Never seen salt or snow, always garaged in a heated and cooled garage.
