For a number of years PowerTrac attended trade shows such as the Louisville Expo held each fall. Last year was the first that PowerTrac decided to not attend as they felt the benefits (since 9/11) to their sales had declined against cost to attend. They did mention that this would be a year-to-year decision.

I'm only about 70 miles northwest of Louisville, so that would have been real convenient for me.

I've been reading a lot of the posts in this forum and the PT concept is interesting. This reminds me so much of the earlier days of the kit aircraft business when completed kits were few and far between and the only ways to see new aircraft and meet the manufacturers was to travel to their facility or go to the annual air show at Oshkosh, WI. Often times the customers themselves provided better support than the manufacturer. But then people who build planes from kits are usually highly technical and resourceful. Looks the same way with the PT owners who post here!

Given the fact I work full time and have lots of other responsibilities outside work (teenaged children!), I wish there was an easier way to evaluate the PT product.

It doesn't appear that anyone on the owner's list is anywhere close to me. I live in the rural part of Indiana!

Paul,
Remember, your version of a nice Sunday drive and a Hoosier's version of a nice Sunday drive are two different things! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

But if any potential PT buyers are going to be near, with some advanced planning, I am more than willing to show it off, both the good and bad points. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Yeah, bad points.
Like how I would have to remove the muffler to change the battery. How inconvenient the location of the hydraulic filter is. Things like that. Every machine has a few quirks, flaws and design issues. With that being said, I think the PT design is outstanding and the machine is perfect for my needs. Knowing everything I know about this machine now, and seeing the design changes that have occurred since I purchased, I would definately purchase again and highly recommend them to anyone that asks. But I will also point out the few flaws that I see so as people can choose for themselves. Going into my 4th winter of ownership, I still get that stupid grin every time I fire it up and drive out of the shed to do something in the yard. That says a lot.

Agree on the "bad points"(maybe even how loud it is??).....but then again it seems most "vehicles" built today have as much as possible crammed into tight quarters...no wonder the labor charge at garages far and away exceeds the parts! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Your right, I think nothing of takiing a drive and end up 800 miles from home. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I have visited PT at trade shows and also at the plant in Tazewell. Nothing can replace a visit to the plant. I went there thinking of buying one size and bought another. PT has 12 models of tractors and over 200 attachments, no way can they bring all this to a show. Pt also gives a 2% discount to visit the plant, this will help ofset the travel cost.
I understand PT is now in their new building and the showroom will be ready soon.

I visited the Power Trac website and requested the video and literature. If nothing else works out, my sister lives in Virginia which makes a trip out there to see her and the equipment in person justifiable.

When I was talking to Scott at PT, I told him I'd ordered the video online. He said that part of their system was "down" and took my info and subsequently sent the video. I don't know if they have fixed it yet, but if not you'll never receive the info and video. Call Scott at PT.

About the video: not the greatest. I think the info at MossRoad's site is better, and the videos show more of what can be done. PowerTrac could/should take a little more video, edit what they have, and put it all on a DVD. Less cost, less to mail, easier to navigate (you could 'jump' to the sections you wanted to see instead of enduring the entire tape).
