I also just switched from Kubota to JD, but a BX to a 2025R. On my Kubota I also backed up by slipping my foot under the forward pedal and lifting up. I like the JD side by side setup slightly better but either setup works fine for me.
The loader removal is easier on the JD but was not bad on the Kubota. The drive over deck and auto connect deck is really nice on the JD. JD also has a suspension seat.
Taking the bucket off and switching to forks? I know JD’s setup is proprietary but it is so simple, great setup. My JD and the BX were both plastic. I did have to buy a new plastic engine surround for the BX. I will see how the JD holds up.
JD makes you go into neutral to get off the tractor and leave it running. I do not like it but have adapted. They also make you hold down the pto switch to back up while mowing. The safety stuff in more annoying on the JD but I was aware of it before buying.
The loaders? The Kubota is easier to do two functions at the same time, such as lift and curl, or lift and dump. It’s almost impossible on the JD unless you work the joy stick just right. One thing I have learned is when using two functions, it really slows the loader down. I often thought the loader was slow on the Kubota but it was probably due to using two functions at the same time. Once again, this issue is a non issue for me, I have adapted.
No complaints on My Kubota BX, I had going on 800 hours on it. I have high expectations for the JD. So far I like it.
