Tractor
4110 JD
I had a 455 JD then traded it in for a 4110 Jd. Now I am looking for my last tractor thinking about 3320 or 3520. I have just 3 acres of woods in the country with a lot of dirt work each year after river flooding. It is a river cabin site. Then I cut and move around a lot of fire wood very large logs rolled for cutting then hauled to my truck and lifted in the bed. Any way I need more power and weight and want a backhoe that will be more than a toy too. Can any one tell me in a percentage how much more I will be able to lift and how much better my attachments will do. (box blade, landscape rake and bucket) I plan on keeping anything I have that hooks to the I-match)
Does any one own one of these, 3320 or 3520. I would like to go to the 3720 but I have to draw a line some where. Plus does motion match come with the tractor or is it an add on.

Thanks

Roger
Oh by the way I am new to this forum, its great.

Hello. Welocme to TBN!

I have the 3320. Check out the pics of the tractor and homestead to see what I deal with. This is my 1st JD and CUT coming from SCUT 1973 Simplicity 4041 PowerMax 19hp (which I also still have).

I really do not know which actual attachments you have or their sizes so I cannot tell you how much better these will perform. I know the 3320 can pull 72" implements just fine.

I can also tell you is that the 3320 is a great machine for moving items but some things I would suggest - get the proper rear ballast and consider loading the tires if you will lift extreme weights. Many people have compared the 3320 to the 4310 because of HP ratings. Maybe that will help you out with comparisons.

I also could not justify the 3720 for what I could afford (could barely afford the 3320) and when I found my 3320 with 400X for 17500 locally - I jumped on it (it had 49 hours on it when delivered a month ago). I love it and have not found it to lack in power in any way. I cut 2 foot high grass with the 7-iron MMM in B Range no problem at all. I doubt I will tax the 3320 with my needs but I am glad I did not go smaller. Some day soon I will buy a 72" BB (JD2172) and a rear tiller and want to some day buy some hobby farm hay implements designed for the 20-30HP tractors. I am also going to be picking up the 72" front snow blade from a member in NC at the end of the week. If you think you might ever want the blade or a grapple setup ask your dealer about installing the plumbing for a 3rd valve when you get it. I will be adding mine and wish I would have installed it to begin with.

Weight wise the 3320 is 2900 lbs plus a 1000lbs for a loader. How much does your 4110 weigh? I went with R4s and they work just fine on my lawn even at 2900lbs - then again I live in the cuntry and do not care about golf course quality lawn manicures. I also want to take care of the snow this winter on my lane so that kept me from turfs - however my Powermax has turfs and it plowed snow OK.

you will love this tractor. Last tractor? Don't know about that but who knows. My wife says this is definately my last /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Time and projects will tell.

Thanks for the feed back, it helps.
The 4110 is 20 horse 3 cy desel, 1450 pounds. bucket 60in, blade 6o in and so too the rake,

That brings me to another point, I have a 2001 1/2 ton dodge with toe package, with the 33-3520 tractors weighing 2900 pounds then the bucket, I am going to have to buy a new trailer, mine now is only 12 ft. What size trailer for this tractor and bucket would I need, and wil my half ton truck pull this rig.

I do a lot of road work with the twice a year floods we get not to mention the havick it does to the grounds which I like to keep nice. It is not uncomon to have to move 6 inchs of slick mub off the road it takes time but I love to get out and work with the tractor. I move 3/4 to 1 inch gravel ever other year. 40 tons or so. it just keeps sinking down down down.

Thanks for your help.

I would look at a 16' to 18' trailer. Your truck should be able to pull without problems.

I agree with Bloomington Mike's assesment of the 3320, mine has proven to be very capable. Mine has the 300CX loader and I filled the tires, definite improvement! The loader book actually reccomends filling, plus weights, plus ballast... IMO loading the tires and keeping an implement on the 3pt is sufficient. I have not had any power issue with the 3320, it always gets the job done.

I would reccomend at least an 18ft trailer (20 is better), it allows you to haul with implements attached without having too much sticking out the back.... It also allows you to adjust tongue weight by placing the tractor forward or back on the trailer. Also trailer brakes are a must if you are going to be hauling frequently. (prefereably both axles)

Good Luck!

Side note: There is a thread on tbn that discusses gravel drives and some material you can put down to help prevent the sinking that you get every year. Maybe that might help the gravel consumption of your lane.

I have not bought a trailer yet. It is on my list. Someday. For now my dealer has just been helping me out. My dealer delivered my 3320 with FEL and MMM with a regular full size F150. He traveled 25 miles or so.

With the swamp/river muck maybe you might want the larger R4 tires for the tractor.

I too am trading up from a 4110 to a 3320. In the 2.5 years I've owned the 4110, I've put 400 hours on the 4110. I've used this machine to plow snow and mow lawns.

I am looking at a 3320 because I want a backhoe, and a bigger machine, as I am clearing some land.

One question I have on the 3320 are the tires. The dealer I am buying this from has suggested the R3' turf 2 position. What is the difference between the R3 and R4. I can't remember what is on my 4110, and but I do know they are filled with calcium.

Thank you

The R4's are a flat bar tire , Often referred to as an industrial tires like what you would see on loaders.

Thanks.

I am looking at the 3320 with a Curtis Cab so I can take the cab off in the summer and use the backhoe.

I ordered a 3320 and now am waiting. I went with the R4's, 300cx loader, snow pusher, snow blower, and a Curtiss Cab. I'll purchase a backhoe next spring.

I'm pretty excited to be moving to a bigger tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
