Well ,I'll be....I lived near Love Field in the early 60's. (I was going to elementary school at Sudie L Williams and I lived on Hanover street) I had totally forgot about that lion until you brought it up. It was kind of a game at school, to who would see the lion next. Thanks for the memories!

We have a similar set up here in Southern Caswell County, NC.

There is a similar organization in Chatham county south of you. I did not know there was one in Caswell. The Chatham group is well organized and very secure. After the Ohio incident the was some conversation on our local website about the Chatham group. One of the volunteers talked about their security which is pretty substantial.

There has never been a problem with the Chatham group that I have ever heard. The are trying to keep the rare cats alive and in the gene pool the best they can. It sure must be expensive feeding and caring for the critters.

But all it takes is one loose nut to make a mess.

Later,
Dan

When we lived down in Navarro County, there was a large ostrich farm, lots of nice pens and lots of birds just a few miles NW of us. But he went broke, got rid of the ostriches and sold the farm. The folks who bought it wanted to use it for an exotic wildlife refuge, including lions and tigers. There was quite a battle over it, but I think they finally gave up. Don't where they went.
