The trailer brake controller box on my 05 Dodge 1 ton has no power to it. last trailer pulled (about 2 weeks ago) everything was fine. Checked the fuse list inside the fuse box but it was no help. I was in a hurry and did'nt have time to pull and examine each fuse. The box has no light/power when not even hooked to a trailer. Any ideas where to start looking ?
THANKS! Jack

My brake controller has 4 wires.
Black - fuse box 12V + side
White - ground
Red - brake switch (not the 12V hot lead side but the side that gets 12V upon brake pedal application)
Blue - goes to trailer plug
The Black should go to a 12V source that is always hot. Make sure it is and check the white ground wire for good connection. Your brake controller wires should be labeled where they go. If all is good at the controller side you need to check the trailer plug. Connections there could have corrosion or even a broken wire. When applying the brake controller manually the blue wire on the trailer plug should have voltage. If the blue wire connection at the trailer plug has no connection the controller can't see it (doesn't know its plugged in) and won't light up. Also trailer ground wire connection is very important.

Look under the hood first for the fuse and also make sure all the connections are good. Check the voltage with a meter at the controller. I would also try to jump wire it strait from the battery to just be sure the controller is not bad.
