I'm looking to purchase a trailer, mostly for hauling my tractor.
I'm looking for 20'-22', 10K axles.

I've never bought a trailer like this before and am a little overwhelmed by the choices and more so the price range.
In my area, Central Michigan, the prices are starting at about 4500 and go way up from there.

What do you look for in a trailer? What do you think is important in your selection.

Thanks

Check out Kaufman. I really like mine and their prices are more reasonable. I’d buy Diamonds C if I had the money, but I don’t

First step is probably to decide if you want a deck over or a car hauler type. The deck over gives you a lot of flexibility and load space, but will probably require more ground clearance on what you are hauling. You've probably looked at DR Trailers in Milan. They have a lot of options and good prices.

I am looking at car hauler style.

Build quality and possible uses were my priorities. Price was a low consideration because I figured a trailer that will last and that will do as much as possible is worth the cost. It's shocking how expensive trailers are and how many come with rust spots straight from the dealer. Looking at used trailers on facebook can also help figure out which brands will be rusted out in 5 years. I ended up with a Diamond C car hauler and it's really nice, but not perfect. The main drawback is the slide in ramps aren't sufficient for a skid loader or mini ex so I had to buy heavier ramps for those uses. Other than that it's been great. I didn't buy an equipment trailer with folding ramps and fixed fenders because it would be difficult to haul my lowered car. Unless you're hauling a lot of materials a deck over isn't necessary. A tilt trailer is a lot heavier and more expensive than one with ramps. So think about everything you will or might use it for and choose one that will do as much as possible. In hindsight folding ramps probably would have been better for me since I'm not hauling my car much, and hauling equipment more than expected, but I wanted as much flexibility as possible.

I haven't heard anything bad about Kaufman, but price wasn't that much cheaper once you add in delivery cost and some options.

Something like this Lamar is pretty flexible. Ramps will handle anything the trailer will carry and removable fenders are nice to get it close to deck over clearance. Trailer weight, build quality and price are mid pack.

I would be looking at the 22ft. That extra 2ft is nice. Also would be looking at one with a nice toolbox on it for storage. I have been really happy with my Diamond C.

I've been very happy with the Rice 20' 10K trailer purchased for $4600 in 2021 towed with a f150. Picture shows a practice run of loading my tractor and all attachments for a move from Tennessee to Wisconsin.

Just to clarify what the op wants. A 10k trailer or a trailer with two 10k axles, which would be a 20k trailer. I assume a 10k trailer which would have two 5k axles.

On the length, they tend to shrink when you load them. So, if you get an 18 ft, you will wish you had atleast 2 ft, or 4 ft more. Same with width, 84" wide seems wide, until you wish you had another 8".

With car trailer vs deck over, car hauler is great, But its less useful to load pallets on, at most supply places. You gonna want to place those pallets over the axles, or less, and you have a fender in the way.

At the same time, when you really only need a 6x12 trailer, the bigger one can be annoyingly large.

When you find what trailer(s) you want, look around closer to where they are made for dealers as they tend to be cheaper. I saved nearly $3000 buy visiting family in Hot Springs, for instance..
