Trailer Electrical Connections

I plan to buy a trailer for my BX2200 in the future. I plan to get a 16 foot with two axles...at least one with brakes. My question concerns the plug to the vehicle. I noticed that there are 6 and 7 pin/wire connectors. What is the difference between the two?

I believe you need a 6. the 7 has a lead to recharge a battery on a rv. i have a seven on my truck and put a seven on my trailer. the one batt. lead is not attached.
you will also need a brake controller.

The six will work but put on the seven pin. Then you are ready for anything.

I agree with Egon, I'd go with the 7 pin connector. It is more "standard" and it is the one generally found on tow vwhicles (vans pickups) from the factory.

oh i agree with egon. better to be prepared if you someday buy an rv or whatever.

Besides, with the extra connection and proper size wiring, you would have an extra 12v outlet on your trailer for other things like work lights.
