Trailer Emergency Brake Incident

/ Trailer Emergency Brake Incident #61
I would really like to learn more about this. It seems like the trailer brakes would still function even if the trailer became decoupled, as long as the electric hookup to the vehicle was long enough. How does that hold up to reality?

They will, but you usually do not tow with the controler gain turned up to max, if you hit the brakes suddenly, trailer hits back of tow vehical, may damage trailer plug or cord, now No brakes! Or trailer sways, brakes plug or cord, now No brakes. Most drivers cant react as fast as the breakawy switch.
Not all controlers are easy to reach in a panic. Every vehical, trailer and driver is different, and may react different. All drivers should be trained to oppeate trailers and all trailers and trucks should be inspected, but they are not!
