Trailer Hitch "Extender" for BX

Before I jump into another project, does anyone sell a longer trailer hitch thingy that would make it easier to attach a trailer? It's a struggle getting my ATV trailer attached, fighting with the 3 point stuff. I have a piece of steel but it takes forever to drill those big holes.

Something like this would work.

Plus, you can get various size balls, hitches, and hooks that will fit into the receiver.

The other thing to do is to buy, or make, an A-frame for your 3PH to mount a ball. eBay has several kinds.

I wonder if the Tractor Supply hitch's holes line up with the OEM setup?
I tried the 3 point setup but it had a mind of its own---scary coming down the hill.

I've had pretty good luck with their Chinese crap. I just picked up a metal circular saw for a recent project and I was most impressed with its power. It shreds!

Here is what I have on my BX. It attaches pretty easy and works great. I've pulled my 4x8 trailer with 3/4 ton of rock many times. Might be more than you want to spend

Well...how about first grabbing a Harbor Freight Quick Hitch ( HF QH )
and then get on of THESE. Or just
hook it up to your 3 point... ?

The problem with hooking a trailer to the 3PH is that there is no down pressure on the ball except what the trailer provides. As the OP stated, it is a bit scary going downhill if the trailer tries to catch up to the tractor.

The solution to the 3PH issue is to chain down the hitch so it can't move up. Just don't forget you chained it down!!

In order to use these the tractor needs a square receiver for them to fit into. HF does have what the OP needs.

I just checked out the "double" hitch on harborfreights website. Did anyone read the reviews? Here's one:

Comments about Haul-Master Multi-Use Ball Mount:
I recently put a heavy duty front bumper on my Jeep liberty. The only place to put my tow bar brackets was 6" higher than the receiver on my Motorhome.

I figured I would have to make a bracket, then I saw this at Harbour Frreight and it was perfect. I was a bit skeptical of the right angle, so I Welked a trianglar piece of 1/4" steel behind in the center for extra support.

This should work out perfect for my needs!

Does anyone see a problem with the users intent?

We have one of these: Mad Dog Gear® Three Way Hitch - 4404418 | Tractor Supply Company welded and bolted to the back of our BX2660. Works well for us to tow either a utility trailer or a "lawn tractor" sized trailer.

I made is awhile back and it was to low. I then used the same draw bar and bolted it to 1/4 angle iron and moved it up to some holes that was already there, as you see with the trailer hooked up. Very safe.

you can use any truck step mounted bumper hitch receivers and drill out holes to fit BX, but I like the slick setup of the BXpanded one since its slips on easy and off as needed. I know what you mean about the free float of upward motion on those 3 points hitches, which is why I always made sure I had alot of front weight on trailers.

I looked at what was available and although adequate, I wanted more.
I spoke to Jery at Tach-N-Go, Loader Buddy, small loader Quick attach and attachments about a rear 2" receiver
hitch for my BX25 and he produced a rock solid massive chunk of
awesome design that I bolted up. i believe I have it pictured
towards the end of the "BX25 Goodies" thread. Write Jery
and ask him about it, it was cheaper then the others
as well...works for me!

Oh wow! I missed a bunch of replies. I didn't get any notifications after 9/3/12 but I went ahead and bought an ATV receiver, removed the bottom bracket from the BX, and welded it fast. I had a similar setup on an ATV and it didn't stay put with just the bolt so I ended up welding it. This setup fits my Skooter ATV trailer perfectly---it's level.
