Ok so a question Ive been thinking about...so on the insert for the trailer hitch I have mine dropping but thought about raising it so I don't drag the jack when crossing a dip or high spot.

The question is, does the insert lose any strength when dropped or raised?

No. The question is the design and fabrication of the hitch not the location of the off set.

The more important thing is making sure your trailer sits level when loaded. The rise or drop of the insert should be set so that the tongue of the trailer is just about level when it is loaded and hooked to your tow vehicle. If the trailer is not level going down the road it's a safety hazard, PERIOD.

Sorry, but this is one of my towing pet peeves. I can't stand to see trailers that aren't level going down the road, especially dual or triple axle since the brakes won't function correctly.
