I haul a CK30 on a 16' trailer, fits OK with a box blade, RC hangs off the back by several feet. I'm looking for a 20', gonna sell the 16'.

The listed weight for my tractor is 3055 lbs. The loader weighs 770 lbs and I don't know how much the rotary cutter would add but I would guess another 1000 lbs? or so.

Brian, make sure the tailer is long enough and heavy enough to carry MORE than what you are going to carry. I have often put an implement on the front of my trailer, put another implement on the 3pt hitch, and then driven the tractor up onto the trailer and rested the bucket over the top of the implement on the front end. Also keep in mind added ballast, fuel, etc. If you have fluid filled rear tires, those could add a whole bunch more weight to that tractor. Also, many loader weights do not include the weight of the bucket itself, check your specs, I don't know if Kioti includes the bucket weight in the weight of the loader, but the reason many do not is because there are often several bucket size/type options available. You may find out that the loader is 700# and the bucket is another 200# to 400#. You may find you are over 5000# with the tractor, loader and implements. Also remember the GVW rating includes the weight of the empty trailer. I would say you really need a 7000# equipment trailer with solid ramps.

BTW, when I had my trailer built for me, I specifically ordered a REMOVABLE 6' ramps. Instead of tipping up for transport, they actually have to be removed and carried on the trailer. The beauty of that is that I can carry longer loads that hang slightly off the end of the trailer.

Thanks for all the replys. It looks very much like the trailer in the first photo. I am going to pretty much scrap the idea than and just go back on the hunt for a regular equipment trailer, which is what I was initially doing, just thought that this might do the job. Thanks for all the help to all of you.

You have a 16' (i'm guessing lowboy) and the same tractor he has, you are selling your 16' for a 20'. Are you recomending he gets a 16' landscape trailer with 5' high sides on it? It sounds like it by your reply to me.

I didn't say a 16' trailer wouldn't work. We are talking a 16' LANDSCAPE trailer. It is different than a 16' lowboy. Plus a BB is far shorter than a brush hog. About the 2 or 3 feet the hog will hang off the back. The gate will have to be removed (too weak) and the 5' sides will be a pain to anything else and set the binders.

The more I think about it the more I think you need to look elsewhere.

 / trailer Question #15
Brian; JD4610 is mostly correct that our state doesn't go by gross weight on a trailer. What they do go by is the Fee Catagory or weight of the empty trailer. Looking at the registration of my 7K Haulmark, it reads 2200. Thats the empty weight. On my 12K flatbed, it reads,3280. That is the wieght of either trailer unloaded. That tidbit probably doesn't help you a whole lot. Maybe just some useless trivia at this point, but may help someone in the future. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Where in the wrong end of Michigan are you? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I am in Marine City. About 25 miles sout of Port Huron. I have looked at a couple of tilt bed trailers, they seem nice but I don't know if they are worth the extra cost. As of right now I really don't plan on trailering it often, maybe 4 times a year at most. I don't think the cost is justified, so I guess its back to regular equipment trailer with ramps. Based on redrockers thoughts, maybe a step up to the 20'. Thanks again for all the posts.

Brian; Ah, Marine City. I originated in St. Clair. I think an equipment trailer might fit your needs better myself. The ramps on mine are angled backwards in the upright position, and have extensions that act as jacks when the ramps are lowered. I can load equipment with out having to be hookedup to the truck. It's a MacLander 12K. Antique Auto Sales here in Monroe sell them, and I think they might have a place in New Boston also. Since the price of steel has gone up, the 16' ones are right around $4000. My twenty footer ran me $3800 a year and a half ago. I stick to the belief that you usually get what you pay for. If your interested in one, let me know, and I'll get a price for you. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

St. Clair is nice town. I like it much better than Marine City. I actually live just outside of Marine City in Cottrellville. Your trailer looks nice. I am just uncertain if I want to spend that much. I don't intend to use it that often, probably 4-5 times a year at most. I am going to do some more shopping this Saturday. If nothing comes up, I may ask you for that pricing and info yet.

John,

I loaded my tractor for the short trip to my brothers last weekend. After loading I noticed a floorboard seemed awry and upon inspection I saw that it's rotted out.

I guess what I'm saying is that I'M JEALOUS OF YOUR REALLY NICE TRAILER!!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
