trailer ramps for dovetail

Its been there about a couple of years, its a 1982 and its on a car trailer I built.
The ramps are real simple once you see them and they have a leg under them so it wont lower the trailer too much, I loaded the 6,500 pound skidsteer hitched to my chevy S-10 with no problems

Just be sure to use adequate means to keep ramps in up position going down the road. Some use strap metal and pins, some use chain. Some have spring mechanism that helps with raising ramps (thats a nice touch), because they can be heavy. Might go to some trailer places and look at different types, or maybe TBN members can add what type they have that they like.

well guys i got the ramp built last week and here are the pics, i decided to go with 1 ramp due to getting my zd326 on and off and other mowers. If i upgrade to a larger tractor i will have to install a ground brace to hold the back end up or the front end down but for now it works great. kinda heavy till it breaks over center but not to bad. i did use 1 1/2 square to build most of it and 1 1/2 angle to brace it up. 5/16 chain to hold it up and 2 clevis's as a safety to make sure the hook does not come off the chain. i still need to paint it but the wind has been to crazy here. also there are pics of my high mount tool box in there

I just bought a 24' gooseneck trailer without a dovetail, then "test" loaded my JD 4210. The ramp is only 5' long which was too steep of an angle to load the JD without the back end dragging...it'd be worst when the backhoe is attached. So I decided to build a 4' dovetail.
Here's a pic of the ramp angle...as you can see, I just started the project. Hope to finish it today.

Have you tested your dove tail with your load? Do that before you paint it just incase you need some welding here and there

How much does your tractor weigh? I wouldn't be overly trusting of that addition's strength.

Hard to tell from a picture, may be fine. But then again, it wouldn't hurt to block it just short of touching in case it bends the back frame of the trailer.

I did drive the JDeere over the dovetail onto the trailer. Dovetail was solid, however, I do plan on installing a couple of stabliezer jacks on each corner for heavier vehicles.

Seon, trust me, those jacks will work fine except one thing.
Someday you or the driver will forget them down
Have you considered the fold away tongue jacks similar to these easy to crank up etc.
