I am looking at buying some aluminum ramps for my trailer. My CK20 weighs in at about 3600 lbs with loader and backhoe. The ramps I am looking at are 6’ long and are rated at 3000 lbs a pair, per axle. I believe that the front tires will be rolling on the trailer as the backs are beginning the climb. Will these ramps be suitable for my application?

Thanks,
John

John, I hate to be the one to tell you but your wheelbase on your ck20 is 57.9 in. (1470mm) and it will not work, all the weight of your tractor will be on the ramps at the same time. I would not do it at all, if one ramp gives before the other it will throw you off slicker than frogsnot

Jim,

I think that the 3000 lbs per axle is throwing me off. My CK would be only 1800 per axle? Just after I posted I read my specs and saw the wheel base figures. Anyway, do you understand why they would have the ramp specs at 3000 per axle? They also have 5000 lbs for about $60 more, guess I need to spend the money to be on the safe side.

John, what is the total weight of your CK20 with BH and loader, it's not on the site I got the wheelbase from?
KIOTI HOMEPAGE
if you have 2 axles on ramps at same time with short wheelbase it would be total weight
and if you think you have a short wheelbase? Mine is 41 inches :D :D

Thanks for the help Jim. You helped me make up my mind and go with the 5000 lb model. My tractor weight is listed under the specs section at just under 2000 lbs, Loader 650 lbs, Backhoe 785 lbs minus bucket. A chubby little tractor! :p

very good and when they list specs its for usually dry machines? what about fuel, oil, and hydro fluid. Mine weighs around 6,500 and its close to 4,500 on the rear if mot more, Its light in front and real heavy in the rear. I can make it sit down/wheelie with no attachments easy, little scary at first but It feels better now Shh
do you have a link to ramps?
I'm curious

With that wheelbase and load rating it will do fine. both wheels are very close to the end and beginning of the ramp, which gives a way lower load than when one axle is in the middle.

There's just one thing to think about:
Will you drive your CK 20 on the ramps just bare naked, or will it have a heavy backhoe on the back (add the weight of the backhoe plus the extra weight that's levered off the front axle due to the backhoe being extended behind the rear axle)

The additional weight of implements is more important to look at, than the exact wheelbase. In practice you can easily overload them with 3pt mounted implements.

I calculated my tractor weight fully loaded; Loader, backhoe, plus 200 lbs for 5 gallons of fuel and 8 gallons of hydraulic fluid. Just a guess, but I think it is close enough. I am purchasing my ramps from Danbach Ramps @ Danbachramps.com. I ended up buying 6'X14" 5000 lb rated ramps. That should give me plenty of fudge factor! :p
