I will be buying a B2710 soon and was wondering what size trailer that I need, that is lenght wise. I assume a 6' would be wide enough. Just need to know how long a B2710 plus implent would be. I would like the trailer to be as short as possible. Thanks in advance!

DSMITH,

I can't answer your question, but you might also want to post if you'll have a front end loader and what kind of implement on the back. Different rear implements stick out further. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Good Luck, JimBinMI

I don't know much about the 2710, but Carvers is selling a 2710 and trailer. I would think you would need a min. of a 10,000 lb trailer when you add up implement weights with the tractor. Rat...

Search this site and the archives for "trailer" and you will see a lot has been written on the subject as well as the towing vehicle and brakes on the trailer.

Trailer brakes are essential. Any trailer to haul a tractor will require a frame mounted heavy duty hitch with solid steel receiver and 2 5/16 ball, 10 or 12,000 pound tandem axles, side and front rails, 8 to 8 1/2 feet in width depending on tractor tire spacing and implements to carry. A six foot box blade on the rear of the tractor probably needs a maximum width trailer. Length of mine is 18 feet and a mower hangs out the back with tractor and loader. Cost for a decent quality trailer suitable for pulling a trailer is less than $2000 and will weigh about 2000#. The ramps need to be heavy duty and store on or under the trailer. A break away switch is required by law as are side and end reflective markings. Do not accept a trailer that has a 2 inch ball as they can not be rated 7500# GVW or above although they are regularly sold (without nameplate ratings).

I believe on the http://www.carverequipment.com site there is an article on the perfect trailer for a tractor that would make interesting reading for you.

I wouldn't disagree with any of the other responses, but I haul my B2710, with front end loader, only occasionally and for relatively short distances in an area with practically no traffic and I use a 6' x 16' trailer (of course, that's the trailer bed dimensions - inside the rails, and I only have 5' implements). The tail wheel on the brush hog sticks out behind the trailer if I have the front end loader on; the other implements will fit entirely on the trailer. In other words, I'd say a 16' would be the minimum you can get by with; an 18' would be better, but I had this trailer before I got the tractor.

Like bird I use a 16 Ft. trailer to tow my B8200 (about the same size as a B2710) behind my jeep GC with no problems. I would not want to do this every day but the once or twice a month works well for me. The loader and rotory cutter do make it about a ft. short but I haven't had any problems with it.

I use an 18-foot trailer, my 2710 has a loader and backhoe. It really lounges out nice on the 18 footer. I think a 16' may be cramped for a 2710 with backhoe. My haul commute averages 2-3 times weekly. I use a Hudson Bros. tandem axle trailer with electric brakes. I am setup with a Class IV trailer hitch, 2 5/16" ball, solid 2" ball mount, and breakaway kit on the trailer, of course a cab mounted brake control unit also.

I have 6.5'x16' trailer with dual 3500lb axles (electric brakes on one axle) that I haul my B2150 on (the B2150 is also about the same size or slightly smaller than the B2710). With loader installed, my rotary mower overhangs about 2 feet.

Since you addressed mowing in another post, I'll add this in:

A friend of mine had a problem getting his 5' LandPride side discharge 3pt mower on my 6.5' wide trailer because of the side discharge chute. I am currently looking at rear discharge finish mowers; I know that a 5' will fit easily and I may even get a 6 footer on the trailer (the 72" LandPride model has an overall width of 74").

I guess I should have mentioned that I am limited by a 1994 Nissan King Cab 4X4 V6. So I would need the smallest trailer available. Thanks...

Drive slow.

You should check the manufacturer's towing recommendations for your vehicle, but it will likely be marginal to tow a tractor, loader, and implement on a trailer. This towing recommendation is normally listed in the owners manual. My Jeep Cherokee is rated at 5000# and that is with an equilizing type hitch and frame mounted receiver with brake controller and trailer brakes. A tandem wood floored trailer will be close to 2000#. There are lightweight trailers, but they are pretty expensive because they use a lot of aluminum.
