The answer is yes he can safely haul it. Provided his numbers are correct, he is within the rated limits. And those ratings I am sure get a level of safety built in.

Only thing I would check is see what the trucks hitch is rated for. Make sure it matches the load.

Your entire system is only as good as the weakest link.

It will do it but it will push you around.

I had my weight distributing hitch cranked down pretty good and told myself I wouldn't do this again. Borrowed my BIL's 3/4 ton the next time I hauled it and it was a dream. Now I own a 3/4 ton.

Yes a WD is nice, and often "required" for over 5,000 lbs., a dually and a WD is nicer

I towed a U-Haul rental [i.e. pos probably not maintained] car dolly with car. Wheel on dolly broke OFF and started plowing the highway. Hardly a tug on my dually at 50mph.

Please be forthcoming with all the facts your Hemi was a 2003. We have a 2003 ram 2500 as well and have never seen it get that low. Now the 2011 F450 V10 we have has never returned more than 7.5 mpg. I could leave out the fact that the F450 is a box truck but I won't.

Thanks everyone for the information. I ended up going through a broker and having it transported to me. My tractor is currently coming out of Vermont and should be in Arkansas tomorrow or early Thursday.
