I am looking for some way to protect the wiring connections under my trailer where the 6 wires that come from the trailer connector branch out under the trailer to the lights. On this trailer someone crimped them together, but the environment under a trailer is hostile. My other trailer has what I would describe as a distribution box: wires enter it from both ends and connect to a terminal strip. The whole thing has a cover that screws on. This not only protects everything, it makes it easy to access and disconnect the wires for diagnostics when something doesn't work. I've gone to a dozen trailer web sites and am surprised I can' find such a thing. If anyone has any links please post them, or if you have better ideas on how to do this.
thanks

Seems like I've seen junction boxes on semi-trailers as I drive down the road. Maybe expand your searching to that field?

Think about explosion proof or outdoor electrical wiring supplies. Some trailers even run the wires in conduit.

You can get a plastic junction box at Lowes that has a gasketed cover. They are made by Carlon. They also sell electrical box connectors that have a rubber compression fitting to seal out water. The fittings I've seen at Lowes are for Romex building wire, so the hole in the rubber gasket is more of a slot instead of a round hole, so , depending on the shape of your trailer wire, you may want to go elsewhere. An electrical supply house will have the compression fittings for round wire (and gasketed plastic boxes, too, for that matter)
If the wire is too small for the rubber gasket to seal, build up the diameter by wrapping the wire with electrical tape.

My Anderson dump trailer has a junction box made specifically for trailers. It's available in both 6 and 7 wire positions. I'm gonna buy one and rewire my horse trailer. Heres a link to one. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Rozett,
Seeing as how that is precisely what I'm looking for, I'll buy one.
thanks
