trailering w/ diesel suburban

   / trailering w/ diesel suburban #21
I have a 97 fleet duty Diesel Suburban, used to be a medic responce truck, now its my daily driver. For light to medium duty towing they are fine, you do have to keep one eye on the engine temp gauge when pulling a long hill as she will heat up on ya. Mine is a 3/4 ton with the 4L80E trans, You can top the hill, drop it into 2nd and ride the compression all the way down, just dont touch the brake if you dont need to and the converter will stay locked up. Keep her under 220' all all times. I will sometimes peak mine around 215 as I top the hill. I am looking to put an intercooler on mine to help with air temps. Keep the filters changed and look into a better fuel filter set up. The factory one is only good to 10 microns and will let all kinds of trash into the IP. I am getting ready to install a Racor unit that goes down to 2 microns in filtration. I love my 6.5, easy to find parts for when it does break down, just dont expect it to be a PSD or Cummins, those are a totaly different class of diesel. Cheers Mike
