"As near to the right side of the roadway as practicable and safe..." and anyone who has done any amount of riding can tell you that you are much safer closer to the middle of the lane than you are trying to stay to the far right of the lane.
It also is what LEOs will tell you as it forces a vehicle driver to think about passing instead of just whipping around a bike rider. Also applies to motorcycles. Center of the travel lane is the worst place as most oil collects there. Right side is bad as it leads to sideswipes.

No, not pass them at such a rate of speed that you create that BIG DUST CLOUD. You wouldn't pass your neighbor on a horse in the same way would you? Because when you create that big dust cloud, you ARE throwing rocks off the sides of your tires at anything on the side of the road. Why wouldnt someone throw a rock back, however, that would be an AWESOME trick for someone to be able to stop cycling and pick up a rock and be able to throw the rock to CATCH UP TO a truck barreling past at 50 mph.

A dust cloud is made even going 20 mph.

You talk big archer, but if a bicyclist ever tries to put a size 12 cleat in my truck door he will be trying to pedal a bike that is halfway up his *****. No, I am not a bully, just a mean sob when it comes to idiotic bikers like yourself.

When I was a uniformed cop, I wrote more people tickets and pulled more cars over for driving to slow or failure to keep right than I did for speeding. It was always a pet peeve of mine. As much as I hate it when people compare the US to Europe as if Europe were some great bastion of intellect and we're just a bunch of dummies, I will say that at least in Europe they understand the concept of keep right except to pass. I also will note that in every bicycle vs. car accident that I had to investigate it ended up being the bicyclist who got the ticket because they did not follow the rules of the road (not stopping at a stop sign, etc.) So although there may be a great many cyclists out there that obey all the laws and are a pleasure to be driving around, there are also a ton that are lousy just like car and truck drivers.

Yes, the same type of sentiment felt by men that wear size 12 shoes and get nearly killed (not just a minor beat down, KILLED) by an idiot in his pickup that makes him feel tough.

Get out of your truck, the biker gets off his bike and settle it like men, fine, good, thats what the biker wants you to do, because even before the dent in YOUR truck, he's ready to administer the beatdown on you, only most drivers are too CHICKEN SCRATCH to get out. Your tough, I'm tough, everybody's tough on here, ok bring it on, lets see what you got. By the way, you got a dent in your door now. You cannot legally perform assault on someone for damaging your property.

So you really want to KILL a man over a dent in your truck, or impeding your way to the grocery store, or at the very least BEAT him into a COMA so that he doesn't turn you in to the cops afterwards...He's willing to bet the cost of your cosmetic damage on your truck versus the IDIOTIC maneuver you performed that almost killed him to satisfy your deranged sense of humor or roadrage.

I dont know where you live, but here in central nebraska with the pea gravel roads, it takes about 35-40 mph to get a dust cloud. I can hear rocks in the wheel wells, well less than 20 mph. But if you're passing a biker doing 15mph on gravel, you doing 20, I doubt that anyone is going to throw rocks at you unless you are trying to see how close you can get your mirror to the biker's left shoulder.

That in many cases would call for getting a new bike as it would end up crushed. ;)

Or in the windshield of said truck...LOL

now wait...are you implying that you (or somebody, rhetorically) would intentionally try to drive over a bicycle with a rider straddling it? Would that be the manner of "crushing"?

If you are CCW holder, and someone is intentionally trying to mow you down with an automobile, wouldn't you respond "in some fashion"?

Why would a biker not respond in the same way. I know I used to carry my .380 when I rode. I wasnt thinking I would shoot first, but certainly the cleat/door or airpump versus back window was the first call, to be followed by a nice azzwooping. The gun was there for the people afraid of a good old fashioned bare knuckle showdown or screaming match and decided to up the road rage ante.

Just to add a story; last Sunday a biker on Harley pushed his way round me a foot from me. Scared the bejesus out of me, you would think two wheels he would know better:mad:

Wait till one of these so called "bikers" pass you on the right. My wife and I were on our motorcycle cruising at about 60{mph}, when a real ________ passed us on the right. We were on a mountain road just cruising along when this dipwad came out of no where.

Sid,
You don't mean to suggest that running bikes over with your truck for sport is OK? Do you?
The size 12 cleat was only used as a last resort against a murderous pickup truck driver. So unless you are in the habit of trying to kill someone with your truck, you and I have no beef with one another.
What would you do if an 18 wheeler really got it in his head to take you out in your pickup?
Only a monster would feel good about threatening, with a truck or a car, another human being on a bike.
PS
For those of you who can't pass up an opportunity to make snide comments about Eastern states. The size 12 cleat was applied in a manly Western state, where I lived for many years. Any, as you call it,"Culture" that includes trying to kill others with your truck for sport, is I believe a culture that all decent people would not find enjoyable. But then there are a lot of people out there who are, quite frankly, not decent people.

Putting your size 12 in to the side of the truck was wrong, period. You did that to me, you would be sitting there waiting on the cops and I promise you, you would be paying for it. Not liking someones behavior does not give you the right to destroy their property out of malice. You stated this happened at a stop sign, so the danger you felt had passed. You were simply being childish and unable to control yourself. You had the option to stop, let him drive ahead and report him. What you did was akin to following someone to where they are going and busting a window because they cut you off. But, I suspect you know that. You just don't care.

If you felt soooooo in danger because of this driver, why would you put yourself back in danger pulling up next to him? My guess is that you got your panties in a wad and couldn't control your childish need to "show him"

Your best action, instead of being an @$$hole would have been to note his license plate, and let him go on.
