A temp gauge would be a good idea. I cant remember the members name but I believe he installed a temp gauge and an aux cooling unit for the HST. I makes me wonder if the aux cooling unit he installed would work fine enough without the HST fan underneath. From what I read it was a very easy mod. Of course I didn't have to engineer it so reading about how to install it is far easier than doing it.

Might be a better alternative when our HST fans break. I believe I have the tread bookmarked at home on my Ipad. I will look tonight

Great Mod but just one small question. "Why is that Oil Filter Relocation Kit not diesel compatible"in the one pic it seems that you also rerouted the engine oil filter, like even to relocate the filter on the engine what would be the difference between diesel and gas in regards to the adapter?
I particularly like this mod as I just hate where the engine oil filter is now located, what with all of the hoses wrapped around it, it's a pain to get it tight and sealed.

I can't answer, but my comment is related..my little engine can rock and roll pretty good at idle. I'd certainly not entertain any type of tubing connection to the engine. Also, look carefully at the sump oil capacity vs the additional volume of the lines. Last, consider the possibility that you may want the filter at a level so that the oil does not drain back to the sump.

A gentleman with your skill level may be able to simply make a new boss that mounts to your existing boss, and extends your filter outward for easier access. I can't say, since I don't know your exact situation. My situation is that I can change my filter easily, but not without getting oil on the engine.

Case in point, just try to replace the O rings on the hydraulic valve which on my tractor have all blown one after another due to improperly machined fittings (which KTC refuses to replace) without stripping down half of the tractor, Yuh can't do it. Yuh can't do it unless you do what I did and that was to use a cut off wheel on a angle grinder and cut a hole in the base of the battery case which serves essentially no purpose except to make it all but impossible to get at the fittings without stripping down half of the tractor.
Now should another O ring blow all I do is remove the screen and battery, use a 1" socket, unscrew the fitting, replace the O ring, dog down the fitting, replace the battery and screen and I'm good to go and it all took less than ten minutes. Sadly doing it this way the dealer doesn't get his pot of gold. (my tears flow in his direction)

Wow, I don't have any current failures on my 2230, but could you move in next door for when I do?

Are you running a fan or not with the temperature sending unit?

I think I will look into mounting a small 12v high speed radiator fan underneath that allows the brotek plate to be used. There should be class action lawsuit that recalls every one of thes BX tractors no matter what the age and replace the current shaft with a 2 piece splined model that should make this a 15 min job!

Ironically my transmission broke off a gear tooth and it got pushed through the bottom of the larger half of the transmission case during the big snowstorm NJ had about Jan 25th. I purchased a fan earlier and thought I would install it...............when I got the 4200.00 estimate for the transmission case (2000.00 for the case part only) and gears I gave the dealer my fan and asked him to do it when it was apart anyway......i'm still limping from the bill!

The wife has started to refer to the tractor as the BS 2350 and I think that she might well have a valid point. Green is starting to look better all of the time.

The BX series really are pieces of sh*t, no offense to those who have never owned anything that is actually built like a tractor. I'm not convinced that the other brand subs are any better though - all garden tractors on steroids (instead of little farm tractors, which is what I was expecting). I seriously regret buying my BX2200 - I'm going to replace it with a B-series one of these days, which are far better tractors for similar weight and money.

Too bad your experience has been bad, but to say the BX is a piece of **** I disagree. I do agree the placement and design to have a hydro cooling fan underneath it could be better. Plenty of us get plenty of "Real" work done around here with a SCUT. However not all SCUTs are created equal, some are built heavier than others. Knowing a machines capability before you buy is crucial, some people buy these things and expect it to be a Skidder, Excavator, Full Size Back Hoe, then throw their hands up and curse at the manufacturer when they tear a machine to ****. I'm not being confrontational just saying maybe you expected more than that machine can physically produce. Donnie
