Thanks everybody for all the advise . This is a great forum for getting unbias opinons. I have decided to follow my gut feeling and get the hydro. If it works well I'll let you know. If it doesn't...... well I'm sure it will. Again thanks for the input and I look forward to learning more from you guys, and maybe being able to help some of you out. They are delivering my 2810 next week. I can't wait to put it to the test.

I have a '74 ford 5000 with an 8 forward and 2 reverse transmission. This morning the transmission would shift to 1st and third but would not move right to 2nd, reverse and 4th. The clutch is working. Any suggestions besides calling a service man?

I suggest you start a new thread with "Ford 5000 transmission problems" in the Ford vintage tractor section. There are lots of experienced people frequenting that section who can help you out. Soundguy a top poster here has many old Ford tractors as they are one of his hobbies.

Maybe something (like a stick) got jammed in the shift linkage?
Do a little snooping around before you call "the man" and maybe save yourself a little coin.
