I thought about that, but heck, just trying to lift a gas can up there to fill it, and not spill it all over the place will be enough. I will just use smaller cans, as I know I am not going to be able to pour a 5 gallon can that high.

Heck, I'm 6' tall, 212+ and I have trouble with 5 gallon cans on mine!

Did they go back to the plastic tank under the hood like mine has? I know at one time they put the tank IN the hood and that seemed like it would be heavy!

Mine has the tank under the hood and there is no place to set a gas can next to it and siphon it into the tank with one of these...

I suppose it would be easier to set a 5 gallon can (or smaller) on a 55 gallon barrel next to the tractor and then siphon over to it, though.

Thats a great idea. If I ever do have to lower the seat, I will definitely keep that in mind.

So Mossroad, do you think the armrests Power Trac sells go well with these seats? It looks like they have enough cushion on them to make it comfortable.

I have the factory seat and factory arm rests. I'll tell you, I've had many 5 hour runs on this thing and the seat could use a little padding, but for 2-3 hour stretches, I have no complaints. The arm rests are OK, too... on those 5 hour runs, half of it was backwards, leaning over one or the other armrest, going all out 8mph in reverse. I was hauling moon dust (granulated limestone) refurbishing little league ball diamonds over long distances.

I'd say try the factory seat and see how you like it. If its not acceptable, get an aftermarket seat with some armrests and more padding.

If you think they work well, I get a set.

Josh, I got the machine home, and neighbor unloaded it tonight and that is about as far as I got. I do have to say that I am not real thrilled with the arms. They come all the way down the side of the seat (or a metal bracket does), and bolt on at the bottom where the seat belt connects. It makes me end up hitting that part when I try to get off. None of my other seats have such, and are just mounted up high with about 3 bolts each.

I am also having a problem with being able to get my feet in there. Not sure if it is just big feet or what, but can't pick them up high enough to get them in, really have to work at it, put the seat back as far as I can get, then move it forward to where it feels comfortable for the controls.

Tell you more as I find out.
Jeff

Josh and a few others, I think you wanted to see how they were going to make, or mount the hand control I had put on the 425.

They put a long skinny handle on it, (of which I didn't like) so I put some threads on it, and mounted a knob on the top of it, was a lot easier to use your palm of your hand to control it.

The "T" handle on the side of it lets you put more tension on it, and if you turn it all the way off it will let anyone use the treadle to drive the tractor. Came out pretty good, now to get some seat time in, and they are calling for nasty weather the next few days, but will let me learn more about things.

So push goes forwards and pull goes backward? Pretty slick!

Yes Moss, we tried to keep it as simple as possible. Has some washers, and the springs style or curved ones under it to put a little tension, and I put a bit of locktite on it, so it will act like a nylon nut, and won't come loose and stay where it should.

SO, I am now an official owner of a PT425, 4 in 1 bucket, Material Bucket, set of Forks, Snow Blade with wheels and cutting edge, and a Mini Hoe, and Thumb for it.
