\"tree hog \"by Stumpster ?

Has anyone seen or heard about a tree cutter called a "tree hog" made by a company named Stumpster in Houston, Tx. They sell factory direct .

Give us a URL if you have it, or if anybody does.

I also am considering one of their units, the TreeHog 40.

TreeHog 40

I would like some feedback if anyone out there has one

Interesting unit. Looks sort of similar to a Brown tree cutter.

Anybody have video of it in operation? The company really needs to fix up their website.

That is nice. I would like to see one at work on a 40 PTO hp tractor. I have used a Brown tree cutter on pine but it was hooked to a 100 hp tractor. It would really eat up the power cutting a 12" tree.

That's a little steep.... I think I'll stick with my chain saw and use the tractor and chain to log with.

Well, I've used a different technique. It won't work on every kind of tree and it won't work on really big trees and it won't work when the soil is too dry and hard. But, when the ground is damp I have almost perfected pushing over pine trees up to about 10 inches in diameter, roots and all.

You approach the tree with the loader down low and shove it into the ground a few feet in front of the tree to cut the roots a bit. Then, you back up and approach the tree with the loader halfway up and shove it real hard a few times. It will usually start to lean and the root ball starts to pop up just in front of the tractor. Back up again and shove the blade under the raised up roots and then curl the bucket and down it goes, roots and all. Obviously, some trees require more pushing and more digging but all in all this works quite well.

I do think it is hard on the tractor, but I've cleared several acres to the dirt doing this. I think a tooth bar would make it much easier.
