Has anyone see a Landpride "Treeliminator" at work?

It's designed to go on the front of a skid-steer, but I would think that someone with a welder could make it fit anything... FEL or 3PH.

It looks like it means business!

Cuts trees up to 20” diameter…

Downsized unit… less weight… cuts trees to 5” diameter…

That looks like a smaller version of the shears used on much larger skidders and excavators for tree harvesting operations.
The only difference is those units have "arms" that grab the stem to be cut off to hold it upright and control the direction of fall.

This smaller unit dosen't appear to have a means to keep the tree from falling in the wrong direction. Maybe I'm wrong or missing something. I wouldn't want even a small diameter tree to lay back on me or the tractor. The bigger machines have cages over the operator.

A skid steer would offer more protection than the normal compact if someone was to adapt it to fit a FEL.

OK...now how do you take precautions from preventing the tree or canopy branches of the tree from toppling onto the hood of the tractor or even yourself for that matter? /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif There doesn't seem to be any operator protection if using these implements.

I think most of these mfrs. have guards as options for their equipment... also operator techniques plays a big part... similar to operating a chain saw to cut down a tree... some do's & don't apply...

The smaller tall saplings (5-6" stuff) are not so bad for me when I'm brush hogging... but it's the "Dead" trees you "persuade" with the loader that's somewhat unpredictable and dangerous...
