This is the rest of the "ridge" that goes for many hundred of feet, rising and falling back into the ground to reappear further away on the property. One might refer to this as a vein????

Use the rocks in your landscaping. )</font>

All of my landscaping is done around the rocks or ledge, because they are too large to move. We had one in the backyard that just showed about a 1' square above the ground. At the time, I had an excavator working in the backyard cleaning up tree stumps etc. I asked him to dig it out. He dug and dug and there seemed to be no end to it. When he finally got the two ends uncovered, it was bigger than a large car. There was no choice but to dig in front of it and then bury it further down in the ground. My guess is that it was at least 30' long and probably about 15' in diameter. The excavator was challenged in just trying to roll it into the new hole!!!

What is "Ledge" ?

Whatever it is, it appears to be extremely hard and capable of making a grown man and his tractor cry. Not to mention change the plans they had.

A geologist would probably call it Bedrock.

Hey Junkman, hold on to those rocks, down here in Mississippi we don't have many and use them as yard art features. I would be proud to have an outcrop of rocks like your picture on my property, but I can guess they are a pain for alot of you folks who have rock everywhere, anyway, People really do buy bolders and rocks in my area...Would you be willing to run them down to me one weekend??

just kidding, but really would like to have them if shipping wasn't such a problem.

Junkman,
I am impressed with the BX22/23. Great post and pictures. It makes me think that I might just have to go and start looking for a BackHoe for my tractor. My wife would kill for some of those rocks down here in the yard. Well, to tell you the truth I am the one that does most of the landscaping. I am about to go and buy a load of rock for my yard. Which means more seat time. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Two years ago while visiting Grand Rapids MI, I saw a granite bird bath that I liked, but it wasn't available for sale. I spoke to the company that manufactured it and arranged for one to be delivered to a friend in Romeo. He transported it to a old car meet in Pittsburgh where we met up and I brought it back to CT. The granite originated in NH, so it had traveled a long distance to get to CT.... I would say about 2500 miles. Almost anything is possible if you want it bad enough.

I was speaking with a friend tonight and we are going to be doing some major excavation in the area of the holes that I have dug and are going to terrace it next spring. It will give me about a 20' wide flat area along the roadway and then we are going to landscape the terraced area with all the rocks that come out. I will get a before and after picture and post it. It will not be done with the BX!!!!! We will be bringing in a large excavator and a big JD backhoe and a bulldozer to do this work.
