How do you adapt the poly pipe to the NPT thread fittings I would need to attach to swing joints or sprinkler bodies? Are those same fittings available with the poly pipe? (Sorry, know zero about poly pipe.)
This is what I did:
I used the 3/4" black poly pipe for the first time to run water from my well's frost free hydrant with the plastic fittings and stainless steel hose clamps about 6 years ago.
I purchased the poly pipe in 100' rolls since I did not have any runs over that.
It's stubbed up about 8" from the ground next to the hydrant and when the snows all gone, I install a 4 outlet manifold at the hydrant and connect the poly pipe with a short piece of garden hose that I made up.
I buried the pipe about 8" deep and where I ran it underneath the porch decks, I just secured it to the bottom side of the decking with one holed steel electrical EMT fastening clamps.
I installed 5 hose bibs, 1 in the greenhouse, 2 attached to the front deck, and 2 attached to the back deck.
I made up a fitting with a 1/4" ball valve that connects to my air hose and screws onto the hose bib/or hose to blow the water out of the system.
The 1/4" ball valve allows me to sort of regulate the amount of air pressure going through the piping.
I also lay out all of my garden hoses in the driveway and blow out the water before rolling them up.
The first couple of winters, I kind of worried about how the pipe was going to fair in frozen ground down to 6-8 feet (temps -20F to -40F), but it's doing just fine.
Good luck, KC
