I am not looking to open a new can of worms, but some things do need clarification (because it implies that I may agree, where I do not):[/b] a few of us BX owners who came to this site for help and support have felt there is a condescending attitude to say the least towards the BX.

As for myself, I think that I was the first BX owner here. Registered and posted when I first made the order and the down payment, December 1999 (the old forum). For that entire time, I have never felt unwelcome nor the recipient of what I would categorize a condescending attitude that entire time. Sure, was some misjudgment based on assumptions at first, since the tractor was new to the market, but absolutely not condescending. As the owner's reported it's capabilities, the anticipations were replaced by real-use data, and the opinions/expectations changed based upon that new data. That is, I believe, is the true scientific process - To predict, test, and then refine based on actual data. Repeat the process, until the model is correct. I also have never felt condescended nor belittled by anything posted by Steve, or on the Carver website. Really and truly have not. (As I said before, I might reuse some material for comic references, but it really is all in fun, and I hope it was taken that way). So, for whomever the few are that have delegated to someone else to express their opinion for them, I am not included.

(Del, I think you were the second BX owner here. I still have that e-mail you sent me asking about the BX from a posting on that other website. I have a short memory, but a long archive. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Jon Spinosa, if I remember, was another, who we had some e-mail traffic, and was an early BX owner and forum participant).

Roy,

Yup I was a "lurker" (I prefer "mute reader") for a long time before I got my Kubotas, when I was strictly blue.

Actually it was about 1120AD I believe when I started, lots of great posts about oxen health and use. (This was the very first "forum" Beasts_of_Burden.com Someone used to come by with a tablet, I'd read it and sometimes carve new messages on it, he would ride away and take it to the next person. If you think the recent server slowdown was a problem, in those days the rider would not come back my way for 7-8 years./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

Del; You, mute? I believe it, but man, glad you overcame that shyness! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Roy, I just kept remembering that saying..

"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, then to open your mouth and remove all doubt..."

Of course on these boards no one knows the former as you are "invisible" if you don't post.

I got over that seeing others willing to speak of their less then optimal performances!

So I've let a few of my goofs out into the wind, hoping others may benefit.

I'd urge other non-posters to do the same.

And before I hit the "continue" button, as to the negative comments to BX owners... Typed words can look serious and mean when it's not your intent. Muhammad has made it possible to bypass that problem with the easily added smiley faces etc /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif /w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif /w3tcompact/icons/mad.gif /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif /w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

If you read all the BX posts you may see some good natured jabbing, that's all.

After all guys, in a LOT of minds if it isn't school bus yellow with a weight over 13,000 lbs it isn't a REAL tractor anyway. Whether you have a TC45 or a BX, any farmer, rancher or construction tractor driver would giggle at your rig. We're protected here as so far no one of the 'big' boys has stopped by to laugh at us, at ALL of us.

There were some posts questioning the hoo-hah over the BX, with all the posts, I think that might be due to the fact that as an owners group, BX owners are a bit excited about their tractors, I am. It can't do what my L35 (which can't do what a Case 580 can, D11 can etc) but for it's size and FUN factor it is a working little beast.

Others have posted with their good comments about their rigs, it just that they are spread out over the "rest" of the range, 7500 2410 2910 3010 3710, not too mention the blue, green and upcoming red fellahs etc. Maybe they all need their own "moniker" like the BX has.

I'm sure there are some out there who haven't been pleased with their BX, as they were expecting a 4610. As someone else posted every purchaser of every size has doubts. I guess I'm excited about my BX as I was expecting nothing from it but a good 4WD mower! Was convinced the dealer was bs'ing when he said the loader could be used as a loader. I ordered one and bought it without a tryout, I just wanted a 4WD mower for the hills. (Wet grass, 2WD, hills, forget it) Was I surprised when I found out I had a useable tractor in micro-size!

I think that says a lot Roy. My neighbor has an L35TLB, and we were comparing his to my B7500. Sure he can scrape half the road (6' box vs. my 4' box), but we were also comparing the things he can't do because his is too big. It's clear that there is a place for each machine, and the that the only truly satisfied owner would have one of each! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

If I make fun of somebodys tractor, it will have to be my 1974 International 454 D with "Lightening Shift Transmission" as the colorful brochure with the goofy guy so delightfully displays. The optional roll bar or ROPS is about 2' wider then the tractor, on each side! The optional loader with massive arms and hydraulics appears to support about a 42" wide bucket. As funny looking as it looks, it could look really if I had those options. It does have horsepower and weight though and that works well for what I do. Rat...

What is the deal with some of those old tractors? I have seen a number of them with huge loader arms and teensy buckets, smaller then the one on my BX!

There's another one for sale I saw recently, looks like the loader is on the BACK of the tractor, either that or the front tires are HUGE and the rear tires are tiny!

I won't even mention those tractors that are pigeon towed with their front "feet" almost touching each other! (Row crops?) And those comfy metal seats!

Del, sometime I will have to make a copy of the Ultra ROPS and Loader option as shown in the brochure for my tractor. When I saw the brochure I had to laugh. I have no clue why they made such a odd setup, perhaps thats just where we were at in those days. There is probably more steel in the loader attachment point on my tractor then most of todays tractors entire transmission case. Then they put on this little scooper bucket as though thats all it could handle. I'll just wait before getting the loader for mine and figure on a replacement. By the way, with no loader or ROP's, my tractor tips the scale at over 5000lbs. Rat...

Would a BX do as good of a job running over the heat pump as a 4610. I think not. What is that crunching noise?

the small bucets on the farm tractors were material buckuts.you could get light duty bucets, snow buckets, that coverd the width of tractor.most farm loaders only had lift capacitys of 1500-2000lbs.they could not lift a full 7' wide bucket of dirt or wet manure, even for a 80hp. tractor, of course this has changed. As for narrow front ends the wheels were camberd for cleance of steering shaft and so the wheels on ground were as close together as possable, narrow so they didn't hurt roots of crops being cultivated or sprayed, hence row crop tractor.IH mad row crop & standerd modeles although the later models row crop had wide front end they were built taller than utility models.
