So you would rather see a person in need of medical assistance die rather than have them trespass on posted land while seeking help?

Where I live at least, I am fortunate and happy and to say land owners are more compassionate even though we value our own privacy.

Reductio ad absurdum. I said no such thing.

We have lots of people up in N. Idaho that id be nervous going to their house....even if i was invited. We have people with 4x8 foot signs stating trespassers will be shot and buried... or simply 渡o trespassing. Owner has a backhoe ? I would not think of walking on their property. I have no trespassing signs and my property is fenced, however driveway up to house is open to traffic. There is a gate to the rest of property. Im a friendly sort, so not opposed to meeting someone at door.

If their Jahovia witness or mormons, i may tell them im a devil worshiper, but other than that im friendly. Ive been thinking of putting up a sign stating were practicing nudist...
And old. Who knows.

I do have a sign on main gate that says Caution, shooting range in use.... moving targets wanted.... inquire within? And thats no joke. 20190411_162643[1].jpg

Please remember this thread is about a house that cannot be seen from the road, like mine, why would anyone that needs "real" medical help travel on a private road with no homestead in sight or without a phone? Every 12 year old has their own phone.

Signs don't do much good. Everyone thinks they have a valid reason for ignoring them.

Gave up on signs, and just shut the gate all the time, home or not. That way the gate doesn't indicate if we are home or gone.

Uh, excuse me:

Put several of these up years ago when I made my two rifle ranges (100 yards and 260 yards) plus a pistol range.

Cut way down on the "tourists".

Bottom line is as a property owner I would encourage everyone to ask their insurance agent about how much an umbrella policy costs. I was surprised how little a $2M addition was that covers everything even auto. Ask yourself...if this person gets injured on my place is it worth getting sued over?
Other side of things is whatever happened to courtesy, respect, manners, knowing how to act, etc. Respectful people we would let them fish, hunt, give food to, flowers, etc.
It's just using common sense.

Very true, the umbrella policy of 1 mil can be had for about $80 a year.

I suppose a sign saying 'Land Mine Testing Range' would be over the top?

My parents had one on their gate that read 'Tiger Snake Sanctuary', kept a few at bay, change the species for your local area.

We finally put in a solar powered gate. Have driveway and postal alarms to let us know when someone and the postal lady is coming/here. My wife says the gate is the best thing we ever did. Cost nearly $5,000 though. Postal lady caught me without knickers a couple times before that. Didn't mind that. Just didn't like others just driving up to the garage.

Neighbor 3 over across the flood plain along the creek put up no trespassing signs when they adopted a little girl. He and I work to maintain the trails; so the signs to not apply to us.

Had a horse rider come in. She says she thought the trails were public! Put up no horse trespassing signs and rope at out property line. Found her and communicated with her, too.

Our neighbor to the left finally moved back here, at least about half here and half at somewhere in Pa. He surveyed along out line and had the surveyors put up ugly posts about every 100 ft. Turned out the line goes right down the middle of an area through the woods behind the house that I'd been kept mowed for Jap stilt grass. Asked him whether he wanted me to keep it mowed. He, in effect, said that he did not want my tractor on his property, probably because of his overconcern about insurance effects since he'd had a real estate business in Taxa_and_insur_atus_chusetts for many years looking after the 4 parents up there until they died.

I've since planted native shrubs in front of the most visible posts and placed on timber pieces along the line to keep ME off his property.

Ralph
