The 2 autos not what we would call a Woodie in the traditionally sense were Lincoln & Caddy.

Fords non steel body was made from something that at 2 different times was required for farmers to grow. It is now according to federal law illegal to grow.

What Color Are they?????

1. Hemp. Illegal to grow as it is almost indistinguishable from Marijuana.

2. White. All colors have bleached out.

Apparently after doing some research, Hemp was only one small percentage of the compounds that went into making the plastic body panels on Henry Fords concept care.. Soybeans were a larger percentage that made up the plastic. But there is controversy on this.

Compressibility was a phenomenon of turbulent air flow over the control surfaces of the airplane whereby the pilot would lose control, with sometimes fatal results. Sometimes control would be restored as the plane got closer to the ground, but not always. As I recall, they eventually solved the problem by installing a special baffle of some kind that broke up the turbulent flow. The P-38 was a thoroughbred that suffered from teething problems, but by the end of the war, it was pretty much perfected and a very formidable fighter...not to mention it's beauty.

The Vaught F4U Corsair was WWII fighter that actually continued production after the war. It was manufactured by Vaught, Goodyear and Brewster. In action in the Pacific, it was flown from land bases, and later from carriers. It was known to the Japanese as "Whistling Death" because of the sound of the air through the oil coolers. It had a phenomenal kill ratio of 11 to 1 against the Japanese. There was one other American fighter aircraft that had a kill ratio significantly higher...19 to 1...what was it and who was the manufacturer?

P.S. I would highly recommend the book "Whistling Death", the story of the development of the Corsair, written by the test pilot, Boone T. Guyton. There is also another book that I highly recommend to you WWII buffs, entitled "Reach for the Sky", the story of a legless British pilot who flew Spitfires against the Germans using artificial legs. His name was Douglas Bader, and he lost his legs in a crash while showing off for some girls. He was a good pilot, and the British, being desperate for pilots, put him back in a fighter plane where he shot down something like 20 German aircraft.

American Navy was afraid to land a Corsair on a Carrier.

Most likely an H bomb which uses a A bomb as a fuse to get the hydrogen to fuse at the same temps and pressures as the center of the sun.
