Trivia Tme!!Who invented white out/liquid paper ?

"In his movies, John Wayne walked with a distinctive strut or swagger. Early in his career he was taught how to walk that way by a fellow actor. Who was that actor?"

I'm guessing Ward Bond or Harry Carey. I know Ward Bond was on TV in "Wagon Train", but I've no idea if Harry Carey ever did a TV show.

Early in John Wayne's career mean the mid to late 1930's, so the TV show would have to be in the 50's or early 60's.

Was it Paul Fix? He played Micah, the sheriff in The Rifleman. I think his weapon of choice was a shotgun. He was old enough to be around JW in the early years. Just guessing.

They were friends when John Wayne first started acting and Wayne wanted something to set him apart, so Paul Fix suggested the rolling gait that became his trademark.

Paul Fix played Sheriff Micah Torrance on The Rifleman from 1958 -63.

huh --- I'd always heard that that walk came from when he fell off the stagecoach during the filming of that old film he did of the same name, when he was way younger and not yet famous, and hurt his back....

Could be, Mikim. I got the info off t.v. (the Westerns channel, I think) and verified it through an internet search about Paul Fix. I believe it was one of those "so the story goes" type stories so we can all take it or leave it for what it is worth. Makes for a good trivia question though./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
