TROUBLE WITH KUBOTA?

What he failed to tell you as Paul Harvey says--the rest of the story--many JD dealers are go TU also. That is what happens in an economic downturn made worse by fascist who knock over 2 skyscrapers full of people. Last I checked it was JD stock that was down, not Kubota. Kubota is an old company and one of the only that still builds the entire tractor including engine. Kubota ain't going away, on the other hand the marginalized profits in the lawn care and small utility tractor segment (due to competition with Kubota) may not remain attractive to a brand name company (a company that puts there name on products made elsewhere)and they may well pull out concentrating on larger commercial sells. Imagine, the JD name sold to MTD for the sub 40 horse market--more likely than a huge and old and very successful and extremely competitive quality driven company like Kubota failing.
This resale thing about Kubota vs JD is a bunch of Horse****! when I cruise through the area here, aside from a few JD 400's and 300's and maybe one 4100 and the Sears crowd, every new or nearly new UT is a Kubota, I don't see any JD's except in the fields (combines etc), your dealer is lying to you. One way to stop people from lying in the future is to confront them with it and also report them to JD HQ, I am sure a company with a long tradition and good reputation would not want someone like him working for them.

To add to the comments of the others, go out and find a used Kubota and see if the resale is "rock bttom" like he said. I can assure you it is not.

Wow. I bought a new bota a day too early. Sometime b/w Friday and Monday the bottom fell out of the bota market. Last week I tried to find a small used bota and the only thing I found was 15-20 yr old botas selling (asking) for 75% of their new cost. What part of the country are you in?

I too, was told that by a John Deere Dealer - that Kubota was in trouble and would be closing down many of their dealeships shortly.

I'm not knocking JD, as their new TEN series of compacts sure was tempting. But they are pricey and you have to step up to a $ 25K investment to get something with a backhoe on it in the new line.

A entry level 4010 (18HP) with a loader, mid mount mower and ballast box was $ 16.5K and cannot be fit with a backhoe at a later date from JD.

The BX22 (22HP) was the same price, and has a backhoe included (instead of a ballast box) plus four more ponies, too! For me the choice was a no-brainer.

The JD's are made in Japan, the BX's in Georgia (laughing)...go figure.

My only beef with Kubota is there are NO BX22's around. Gotta wait for mine.....dang.

Another Kubota Dealership has just opened south of Grand Rapids! They're quite prevalent around the area. No signs of slowing up.

Although I wasn't thrilled by treatment received from some JD dealers, I can honestly say I never heard a negative comment about Kubota from any with whom I spoke. I went Deere but appreciate orange and blue. The big three appear to be hard to beat and most dealers know it.
