Don't make it a goose neck. You'll just be trading your truck bed space for the same amount space in your trailer bed. If you change axles you won't be using the same tires on the truck and trailer. Don't bother lowering it. If you want to get into all the work building a GN, different axle, lower load height, etc just build a trailer from scratch. I wouldn't build it without brakes. The little bit you'd save by not running brakes isn't worth the risk.
