Whew! You wouldn't believe the results when I googled ECLH:laughing: Correct 1stDeuce On a road offa road offa road offa road. Actually, the term "midwest" region was always a puzzler...

I like my Michelin LTX's. About 35k so far and I think they'll go to 50. F250 7.3 CCLWB and towing 80% of the time up to 10k.

My tire shop says the guys that want serious treadwear go with firestone transforce tires, so I will try those next. Should be a couple years from now.

I run Michelin LTXs. I think it is a rule that all truck tires are to be replaced for one reason or another around 30-35K. In my case because there isn't enough tread to go through snow, avoiding sliding into a ditch and dying of exposure while everybody in town asks, "Have you seen Eric lately?"

I've had both. The Firestone guys sang the praises of how many miles I'd get. But no.

There is no perfect truck tire, and most actually kinda suck.

I keep two sets of tires mounted on wheels for our F350. Most of the time I have the Michelin Defender LTX on the truck. They are quiet, have good traction on dry, wet, and snow packed. They wear pretty well and are cost effective. In the late spring (mud season) and summer (spend more time on rocky 4WD routes) we go with an all-terrain tire. Currently we've been running Toyo Open Country AT for that set. They hold up well in rocks, never heard of anyone blowing out a sidewall, but their traction isn't particularly impressive on any surface, and they are wearing fast so this will be the last pair of those.

Both sets of tires are the same size so we can use the same pair of chains in deep snow or towing on bad roads. (Not an issue this winter, southern Colorado has no snow.)

Put a set of the michellin LTX's on the front of my ram 3500 dually. NOT the AT2's, rather just the reglar LTX M + S tires.

OEM size was 235/80r17......I wanted wider. Went to 265/70r17. Same height so no 4wd issues doing just the fronts.

I liked the tread design. Good winter / snow traction.

When it came time to replace the rears, I didnt want to pay michelin prices. So i got Mastercraft (also american made) courser HXT's's. Real similar to the LTX's in terms of tread.

I have conceded that I need tires every ~30k. Just no way around it. I put 5-6k per year on the truck....and 90% of that is either plowing snow or towing the GN @ 12-13k loaded.

I run BFG KO2's on my Sierra 2500HD. A little over 30,000 on this set and still look good, got a little over 50K from the last set. Like 1stDeuce said, I run 60 psi all around unless I'm towing, at which time I'll increase the rears to 70 psi.

The KOs do really well in rain and snow. Noisier than the stock Michelins, but much better wearing. Plus I don't need 4WD just to drive between the barns.

How much of that is just highway miles?

Hard to compare everyone's milage they are getting without knowing how they are driving.

I get 30k out of any good tire. But 25k is towing, hauling, plowing. Someone driving the truck daily, unladen......and only.ocassionally weekend tow....might get 60 or 70k.

So it all just depends.

My parents had an 05 ram 2500 hemi 4x4. Stock tires on them were the same as the stocks on the Ford's at the time also. BFG rugged trails. 85k but never towed or hauled.
