Truck Tires

I have literally mounted thousands of sets of tires. I worked at the Ford store during the Ford/Firestone recall and have spent the last 13 yrs seeing which tires hold up the best and I rank Michelin at the top bar none.

Others may have better traction or whatever, but none hold up as well as a whole. A Michelin tire will generally wear evenly where others would chop.

Funny how different folks have different luck. My Volvo and Saturn both had Michelins when I bought them. The Volvo constantly blew the side walls out. The Saturn would never balance. Both were replaced with Falken tires and no more issues.

Same with trucks, tractors, boat motors, TV's, ect. The brand t have at works for one I cant keep working.

Sure that's a 3/4 ton? sure looks like a 1/2 ton to me.

Let me know when you can load and haul 2 full pallets of brick in a 1/2 ton truck !

They do. 6 lugs is a 1/2 ton.

GM did have a "light" 3/4 that I believe had 6 lug wheels back in the 90's but I didn't think it was offered as a z-71.

Very few of the z-71's came as a 3/4 ton 4 wheel drive with 6 lugs you can tell the difference by the 14 bolt rear diff the 1/2 tons came with the smaller rear axle , I've had the truck since new and it is bone stock and it's badged as a 2500:thumbsup:

At times I think we would have been better off on the bare steel rim. We replaced them with the Silent Armor which are a world of difference. They made going to work in a blizzard painless.

I cant belive you feel this way. I have owned 15 4x4 trucks in my life and maybe 45 sets of tires for them. The Dura Tracs have been hands dow the best all around tire for me. Im on my 3rd set.

I gotta go with chris on this one. I run dura tracs on my company truck (2012 3/4 ram 2500 hemi) and I gotta say they perform great in the PA winters, but with as many miles as I drive, I end up getting a new set every November when I get about 45,000 miles on them. Never been stuck with them never slid off the road with them. I'm sure PA winters don't stack up against Canada winters, but they work well. Air them down just a bit when your empty with "E" range tires. I have yet to put on my tire chains to get out of a gas well road. (I have 2 pairs just in case!) This is my second set of them and I'm planning on getting another set late this fall.

I didnt see any mention of what you need in terms of load range. D or E.

When shopping for new tires for my 1ton van (load range E) i was surprised to see how the selection decreases going from a D to an E
