Whatever a load weighs we're hauling the weight of the trailer too. An aluminum frame on it won't make the wheels, axles, & springs any lighter. So how light are the five axle sets we've seen if they haven't been included in our guesses?
Since it's a Florida-made trailer, I doubt it has springs. It probably uses rubber torsion springs.

Just spit-ballin'

Bet you're right about that. If alum is for low weight no steel leaves & axle beams would save a lot. It might also be why there are five vs four axles too, weight distribution, more for going over 'humps' at top of ramps.

btw, my 8'x16' covered trailer has 3500 lb capacity rubber torsions and one 'axle' so a great way to decline hauling anything I'd rather not. "Your ___ is too heavy for my one axle. You need two for that." Home free. :sneaky:

It's also wider. By almost double. 15' beam. And it's almost certainly made stronger since it's an ocean-going vessel. Much stronger. And I doubt that little go-fast boat is sporting twin QSX Cummins.

I used to eat, live and crap boats. That little POS is NOT anywhere near 35,000 lbs. It's lucky if it's 20k and the trailer (it's called a 'quad' for the 4 axles) is maybe 4k. Looks aluminum to me. At least the front does.

I don't know where the Trooper got that 37k number. Maybe he looked at the Trailer's GVWR, the Truck's GCWR, added them up and came to the conclusion that the guy need a CDL to pull something that size for hire. Which you do.

Which is why so many hot-shotters use HD 2500/250 series. They're not as capable but the GVWR on a 2500 is 10k (that's changing, too) so you can pull more load. Up to 16k, without a CDL and all the other happy horse-manure that goes with it. You use a Class 3 (F350/3500 series) and the GVWR is 14k, which limits you to 12k towing. 26k GCWR is the magic number. Weird

RV's are exempt for personal use. And the last I checked, a boat is sure as heck an RV.

This is boring and I'm gonna get in trouble trying to educate people. I know what I know. I just don't know enough to be able teach it.
Almost double would imply 7.5' wide boat. Photo indicates it is much larger than the dually towing it. The dually is probably just shy of 7' wide. I'd estimate the boat width at closer to 11.5' wide.

I'm gonna update this statement.

F350 dually is listed at 96" wide. That's 8'. Now I'm estimating the boat to be 12-12.5' wide. Not even close to half the beam of a 15' boat.

I'd estimate the boat to be around 35' tops. As to weight? Chopper-gun-made boats are typically heavier than hand layed woven rovin' because it has to go on thicker due to its inferior strength. If that boat is a chopper gun made. Don't know.

So, to be generous to others that think it's the Andrea Doria, I'll estimate its weight at -- 22k. tops ......No more.

OTOH, I could be wrong.

But I doubt it.
The truck towing it is listed as being 22' long.

Look at the picture of the truck coming down the hill.
It's shadow is almost perfectly half the length of the boat's shadow.
So that means the boat is close to twice the length of the truck.
22 x 2 = 44

If the boat was 35' long, the truck would have to be 5' shorter than it is in order for the shadows to line up.

I'm guessing it's longer than 35' based on that.

Now if the truck isn't a crew cab, it could still be down to about 20' in length, and that would put the boat closer to 40'.

Looks very similar to a 44' Rivaramma to me.

The dancing is for the googlefu.

Gotta remember that 2 people died and more are hurt. Huge loss of life way more important than us poking each other of facts we don't know. Pure speculation over the pickle barrel.
