Truck VS Tree

   / Truck VS Tree #41
Wal,

We bought the property about 12 years ago, lived in a mobile home until 4 years ago when we built a house. We couldn't build on grandma's land because the city can enforce all building codes within 2 miles of the city limits and we wouldn't have been issued a permit without the survey (the engineer and building inspector shared an office).

I don't have the time or space to relate all the city/county has put us through. But here is a taste, issued a permit to place the mobile home but denied an occupancy permit, denied electrical hookup because we had a solid core ground instead of multi-strand, sued for paying mobile home taxes instead of property tax (we won), property turned over for sherriff's sale for not paying a $30 trash collection bill that was lost, and the list goes on and on.

Why? Because a local developer owned the land around the farm and needed this property to build a stinkin' golf course. He had been trying to buy it for 10 years before we bought it. He tryed to buy it from us but wouldn't pay what we wanted. Funny thing, after we built the house and he built his golf course elsewhere, all the harassment stopped.

Good luck with all your pursuits.
