Do I need to report you for name calling or are you going to report yourself? You figure out how to spend your 73,000 and I'll decide how I spend my $73,000 okay!
You certainly have a thin skin Mr. Onion. Nuts or Jose', which one offends you? if so report away. I look at those who 'report' things like that as just plain snitches. There are a number of them on here to be sure.

I hope he was only joking about reporting you? No way Jose is a saying from way back.

Just built a new one online. Used the standard 6.7 instead of high output to put it comparable to my 2012 6.7 HO. The 2022 would have power folding mirrors, rain sense wipers, auto high beams, power release tailgate, and an extra 50lbs of torque. Everything else is the same. 2022 is $82,815. So very much the same truck for $29k more.
I like the older Dodges & Rams, but I think if you sat in a 2022, you’d find it to be a completely different truck.
We also both know all trucks are up considerably in price. Heck my 2020 Ram 5500 Cummins Laramie seems like a bargain at $68,000 2 years ago. Now its closer to $80,000.
The Tradesman package comes with more standard features all the time.

Watch out for one thing that tripped me on my truck. Ram will say “power, folding mirrors”. What they are is actually power mirrors, that do fold, but manually.
I thought my trucks would have mirrors that fold by power, but it didnt come that way.

My 2012 is in rams 4th gen series so I wouldn't consider it an older truck in comparison. I would agree with that if comparing the 3rd gen series to the new ones. One of my best friends who also works for me bought a new one last summer. I've towed with it and ride in it often. Dont get me wrong, its an increadiblly nice truck, but once you take away the gigantic touch screen and the extra gadgets listed earlier they are still very similar in comfort, noise, and towing ability. (I don't need power folding running boards, my solid chrome boards get me in the truck just fine). Don't get me wrong I would love to have the self leveling air bags, all the extra cameras, adaptive cruise control, etc but all that stuff adds up to a $90k truck now with no discounts off sticker at the moment. Going back to my original point, a new truck with the same options as mine ( leather, heated/cooled seats, premium sound, etc) is currently $30,000 more. When driving the two I just don't see that kind of money on improvements. They are still very similar trucks when outfitting with the same options. Add in those extras now offered and it's plus $40k.

Did you know there is a 25% import tax on foreign made light trucks? It's been in effect since 1964, and limits foreign competition, keeping US prices high.

Did you know that China forces our companies to manufacturer products in China as opposed to exporting there in order to be competitive through unfair trade practices then steals or copies the tech we bring over?

So what Chinese pickup truck is a good deal?

Too bad the rest of it is marginal.
and then
You are nuts. 73K for a toaster, no way Jose'.
Wow, you criticize one guy for having an old truck and then criticize another for considering a new truck. ???? I know, you call a spade a spade. But you only seem to have spades in your deck. You might consider making a positive contribution someday.

You’ll never be right unless you do the exact same thing he does. ;)

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. I'm simply pointing out that it works both ways and in terms of China it has been extremely one-sided and not in our favor. They have been eating our lunch for years and we have been letting them.

My point is that you are voting for high truck prices. Thanks.

Not sure where or when I ever advocated for the tax you mentioned or how I've voted on issues. Im sorry you se3m to think Im the reason for you having to pay more. For the most part I'm for fare and open trade without governments getting involved for special interests. Its usually best when economies focus on what they are best at and dont try to use government policies to artificially change that. Unfortunately that is not always the case.

Here's one example. I've been doing business in China for 20 years and have spent a lot of time there. During one trip riding with a factory owner we were dealing with Mike (his American name he used for foreigners) stopped at a GM dealership in China to look at a particular model car that was imported from the US and not currently made in China. He mentioned he would love to own one. I was confused on why he didn't just buy one considering he was driving us around in a Porsche SUV. He pointed out the price and I was shocked to see it was 25,000 us more than the Porshe. Reason was due to a "local" tax on the imported US car. Even though the Porsche and GM were both imported only the US car had the special local tax. China was obviously focused on moving US mfg there. Want to sell that car in China, then make it in China. The local tax obviously went to the Chinese govt and got them around the GATT (General agreement on trade and trariffs).

Edited top quote as I mistakenly quoted 5030 instead of Larry. My apologies 5030.

I complained to my supervisor that I wanted a company truck instead of a company "little" SUV and he told me to go ahead and find one (this after I told my wife that the company wouldn't cover any potential costs to maintenance for my own truck because I use a company vehicle is 100% covered).

I don't need 4X4 in NC, but more for hauling stuff in the bed.

I buy for the company like I would buy for myself, and still haven't found anything below 45k for 2 wheel drive, and also wanting some extra interior space to drive 4 people.

He told me company found one in Maine and they may ship it down. When he moved from NH, he said to ship his truck was "only" $650

My buddy just picked up a new Dodge for like 56k new. I like it, but he has the crew cab, but the bed is under like 5', and I would need more room in the bed. He said if he went with bigger bed, the turning radius sucks.
